Tongyeonghang Badasaenghyeop Jongno-jeom

통영항바다생협 종로점 Tongyeonghang is the harbour of Tongyeong, a fishing town on Korea's south coast, and badasaenghyeop reads as 'sea co-op'; Jongno-jeom marks this as the Jongno branch.

A seafood and sashimi house on the second floor of a building right by exit 1 of Jongno 3-ga station. The core dish is a pot of clams steamed at the table, 45,000 won for a small; it comes with fish-cake skewers, eggs and dumplings and a timer, and many diners finish the broth with kalguksu noodles. The menu follows the seasons: winter posts have yellowtail, oysters and steamed oysters, March and April posts have webfoot octopus shabu-shabu, and September and October posts have gizzard shad and salt-grilled live prawns. There are lunch specials too (raw-fish rice bowl at 10,000 won, grilled mackerel). We read 30 posts dated 14 December 2025 to 4 October 2026, and all 30 describe an actual visit. Listed opening time was 12:00 through May 2026 and 11:30 from June.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a wait in the evening. Seven posts say they waited: 20 minutes (around 8 pm on a weekday), 30 minutes (straight after work), 20 minutes (7 pm on a Tuesday, three groups ahead) and 90 minutes to two hours (a weekend evening). The weekend diners left a name and number and waited in a nearby café; another group gave up and ate elsewhere first. The four posts that walked straight in came at 7 pm on a Friday, a late lunch, between 4 and 5 pm, and just after lunch.
  2. Nine posts note a 2 hour 30 minute table limit; two say it is written on the wall, and some say it applies when people are waiting. One diner found it long enough not to feel rushed.
  3. Fifteen posts used the self-serve bar for more side dishes. The table starts with macaroni salad, seaweed stems, peas and white kimchi; the bar holds lettuce, sauces, kimchi and seaweed soup. One post noted that kimchi is not put on the table and has to be fetched.
  4. Twelve posts call the portions large; one said a small pot of clams could feed three, another that a single serving of kalguksu was plenty. One found the spring octopus scant, and one found the clams generous but a 79,000-won medium yellowtail plate too little for three.

  1. Seven posts found the prices fair or cheap; one, written during yellowtail season in December 2025, found them on the high side. A small pot of clams was 45,000 won in all six posts that priced it, from January to October 2026.
  2. Eleven posts say it is close to the station: about a minute's walk from exit 1 of Jongno 3-ga, visible as soon as you come up. Only one post said it sits down an alley and is easy to miss.

Getting inside

Second floor12 of 29 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 29 posts read)

Twelve posts say they went up to the second floor. Two describe an outdoor-bar feel by the open windows, and one mentions wide windows. One post says it was busy so they ate 'on the second floor, not the first'; no other post mentions ground-floor seating, so we do not know if it exists.

No post mentions a step at the entrance, a lift, or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair; that means we do not know, not that there is none. Three posts mention climbing stairs to the second floor.

One post says the toilet is a shared one on the third floor, which is a little inconvenient; another also calls it shared. Nobody says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • All opening hours in the posts are copied from listings. Ten posts up to May 2026 give 12:00 to 23:00 daily; six from June 2026 give 11:30 to 23:00. Last order is 22:00 in two posts and 22:30 in one. Two say there is no closing day; one copied a notice of closure on Chuseok eve and day.
  • Reservations are disputed: four posts booked ahead (by phone, or a week ahead for a party of eight), while one from January 2026 said you cannot book and should put your name down at the door. The phone number appears as 02-765-5114 in five posts up to May 2026 and as 0507-1335-5114 in four posts from June.
  • One post from July 2026 gives no prices or dish names and describes the location differently from every other post, so it may be paid copy; we counted only who the writer went with.
