Sulgorae
술고래 Sulgorae is Korean slang for a heavy drinker — literally a 'liquor whale'.
Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →
A spot on Wangsan-ro 262, a walk from Cheongnyangni Station toward Seoul Sacred Heart Hospital, right beside the railway. Today it runs as Sulgorae Sikdang, an à la carte eatery: three posts from August 2026 list braised chicken with aged kimchi at 27,000 won, squid and pork stir-fry at 8,000, pork kimchi stew at 7,000 and pancakes at 5,000, and one family of three paid 26,000 won for four dishes. Before that it was a Korean buffet and drinking spot run by the owner of a banchan shop in Jeonnong Rotary Market — about forty side dishes for one flat price, with stew and extra snacks arriving once you ordered drinks. We read 30 posts from April 2025 to October 2026; 18 describe an actual visit, 15 from the buffet era and 3 from after the switch.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Cheapness comes up almost everywhere. Of 15 posts that discussed price, 13 called it cheap and none called it expensive. In the buffet era it was 10,000 won a head with soju at 4,000; one group of four ate and drank for 65,000 won. All three posts since the switch to à la carte also call it cheap.
- In the buffet era, ordering drinks brought free extras. Four posts describe them: a fried egg for each person, smoked duck, stir-fried chicken gizzards, butter-grilled shrimp. Several say the marinated shrimp and crab came only if you asked. None of the posts since the switch mention anything like this.
- You walk from Cheongnyangni Station. Three posts describe getting there: one walked roughly 500 m from Exit 3, found it hard in the summer sun and suggested the bus stop in front of the hospital instead; one says to follow Naver Map's 549 m route from Exit 3; one came by bus.
- It sits right on the tracks. Two posts describe seats at a big open window where trains pass, and two describe outdoor tables. On a cold day nobody took the window table, one post says; another found the outdoor seats already taken by older regulars.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
3 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post describes the floor from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is an issue.
Nobody mentioned a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access. One post went with a child but said nothing about a stroller; another felt it was no place to bring a baby.
The toilet situation is unclear. One post didn't trust it and walked to the Lotte department store instead. An April 2025 post relays that the toilet is by the elevator in the next building, reached with a key card, but only as hearsay, so we don't count it. No post since the switch mentions toilets.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Waits depend on when you go. Two posts waited: one arrived at 11:40 and was first on the list before a line formed outside (April 2025); one arrived at 12:05 and waited 30 minutes (August 2025). Both wrote their names on a board by the door. Two posts did not wait (5pm; Saturday 2–3pm), and one got a seat by luck late on a Saturday. No post since the switch to à la carte mentions waiting.
- It moved to this address before spring 2025; three posts mention the move, the earliest in April 2025 calling it an expansion closer to the station. No post gives the old address. Everything counted here comes from the current location.
- Ownership and format changed in summer 2026. A July 2026 post was told at the register that the owner had changed; the buffet wasn't refilled and stew now cost extra. From late August, posts describe an à la carte restaurant instead of a buffet. Most of what we count about side dishes, free snacks and waits comes from the buffet era. One early-September post still describes the buffet but appears to recount an earlier visit.
- Opening hours changed too. Nine of ten buffet-era posts gave noon to 11pm (last order 9pm), closed Sundays; one said it opened at 11. The two posts since the switch say 11am to midnight — one heard it from staff, the other copied an info block. Nobody has written the current day off.
- Current prices rest on menus copied in two posts. One lists rolled omelet at 5,000 won, the other at 10,000; one gives the same 22,000 won for large and medium braised pollack. Buffet-era stew surcharges also differ: 5,000 for one and 4,000 for two (August 2025), 3,000 a head (April 2026), 5,000 for one and 6,000 for two (June 2026).
- Two phone numbers appear. Three posts from June 2025 to June 2026 give 0507-1381-6365; an October 2026 post copies 010-3016-9968 as the reservation line, which may belong to the new owner — we couldn't confirm. One post booked ahead and found the side dishes already set out.
