ANAM
안암 Anam Anam (安岩) means 'a restful rock' — the house shapes its black squid-ink pork fritter, the 'rock fry', after the name.
Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →
Anam is a small pork rice-soup house at 10 Bukchon-ro 5-gil, Jongno, on the lane between Jeongdok Library and Jaedong Elementary School. The Anam gukbap — clear pork broth with a green chili-and-kale oil, two back ribs and thin slices of neck — costs 12,000 won (13,000 with coriander); the sides are a cold lime jeyuk at 12,000 won for a half plate and the squid-ink 'rock fry' pork tenderloin at 11,000 won. You join the queue on a tablet outside, order and pay at an outdoor kiosk when called, then sit at a U-shaped bar around the kitchen or at the window. We read 30 posts dated 20 March to 14 October 2026; we set aside one that was about another shop, and all remaining 29 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Waiting is the price of entry: 26 of 29 posts say they queued. Recorded waits run 10 minutes (three posts), 20, about 30 (two), 50, about an hour (four), 1 h 20 and 1 h 40 — and one post had over 180 minutes at number 68 in the remote queue, another took number 53 at 11 a.m. and got in at 2:30, another registered at 4–5 p.m. on a weekend and sat down after 7:30. The 10-minute waits came around the 5 p.m. end of the break or early in the evening. Three posts say the Tabling remote queue opens at 11:40.
- Ordering happens before you sit down: 18 posts say they ordered and paid at the outdoor kiosk first. You register on the tablet left of the door, get called by KakaoTalk or on the monitor, then choose everything — coriander in or out included — at the kiosk on the right. Four posts say food arrived right away; one felt it was not quick for a soup house. Two posts note the whole party must be present to be seated.
- Twelve posts say the meat had no off smell, and many say the rib meat came off the bone with chopsticks alone. One post noticed a slight gaminess in the ribs, and another left the ribs because they were rather dry.
- The broth is on the mild side: six posts call it lightly seasoned or plain. One likened it to the Pyongyang naengmyeon of rice soups; a writer who had lived in Busan found it like an unfinished samgyetang, and — having skipped the coriander — concluded the soup needs it. Many posts grind in Sichuan pepper halfway through.
5 more
- Nineteen of the 29 posts ordered the rock fry and six describe a crisp coating. Three evening visits (two in April, one in September) found it already sold out; the 30-a-day limit is something posts copied from the shop's Instagram and menu.
- The room is small: ten posts call it compact. Seat counts vary — 'an 11-seat bar plus two window spots for two or three', about 16, about 18, around 20. Eight posts mention the open kitchen ringed by the U-shaped bar. One diner at the window disliked locking eyes with the people queuing outside, and two posts think groups of three or more would struggle to sit together.
- Portions are generous: ten posts say so, and two of them could not finish the soup. The rice comes already in the bowl, not on the side.
- Seven posts describe the walk from Anguk Station exit 2 past the Constitutional Court — a little over 300 m, five to ten minutes. The one post that drove recommends public transport at weekends.
- Four posts noticed many foreign visitors — one put it at about half the room and the queue. One post mentions the menu is also available by QR code.

Parking
3 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There is no parking of its own. Three posts say so from experience; the one that drove waited about 50 minutes just to enter the Jeongdok Library car park on a Sunday lunchtime. Other posts only copy the listing's 'no parking'.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
Seven posts describe the walk from Anguk Station exit 2 past the Constitutional Court — a little over 300 m, five to ten minutes. The one post that drove recommends public transport at weekends.
Getting inside
No post describes the floor or any stairs from experience; only the address says ground floor. Nobody wrote about it.
No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — not that it can't, just that nobody wrote about it. Many posts note the seating is mostly bar stools.
No post mentions the toilet — whether it is inside or separated by gender. We don't know.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Three posts are from return visits (four or five times, a third visit, takeout a few days later), and three say they won't go back — two because of the wait, one because the writer doesn't care for pork rice soup.
- Of the posts that say who came along: one went alone, four with a partner or spouse, three with friends, one with family. Only one writer ate alone, though several saw many solo diners (we did not count those). A party of five had to split across two phones because Tabling allows at most three per booking.
- Two posts saw a child's chair; one says there is just one, mostly used for bags, and that the bar-heavy room is awkward with children. No post describes going with a child.
- Prices are mostly consistent: 12,000 won for the soup, 13,000 with coriander, 17,000 for the large bowl with coriander. Only the post of 14 October 2026 gives 13,000 (14,000 with coriander), which is not enough to say prices rose. The set for two came to between 39,000 and 53,000 won depending on choices, and one post notes the sets carry no discount. Five posts call the prices reasonable.
- Opening hours appear in 21 posts, nearly all copied from the Naver listing: daily 11:30–21:00, last order 20:10, a 15:00–17:00 break on Mondays to Wednesdays only. One post gives last order as 20:30 and another says it opened at 11:00. Two posts copy 'no regular closing day', and several note it may close early when ingredients run out.
- There are no reservations; the queue runs through Tabling. Nine posts copy the phone number 0507-1463-8189, but none describes calling to hold a seat or check what has sold out.
