The Mop

더맙 Deomap Mop as in the cleaning mop — two posts pass on the house line that the food is good enough to mop the plate clean.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Mop is a German-style sausage kitchen and bar on Itaewon-ro 167, down the alley beside the Twosome Place near Itaewon Station exit 1. The ground floor doubles as a shop selling the olive oil, balsamic, sauerkraut, mugs and plates the kitchen uses, with tables to eat at; the basement is a bar with a counter and sofa seats. The most-ordered dish is the crispy schnitzel plate (17,900 won, with fries and one house sausage), eaten in seventeen posts; banger and mash, currywurst and sausage oil pasta were each eaten in six. It now closes Mondays and Tuesdays and opens only for dinner on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We read 30 posts dated 7 February to 11 October 2026. Two were about other places and one only compiled other people's reviews, so we counted the 27 written by people who went.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You order through a QR code at the table (Toss Order); fifteen posts said so. Several said that meant they never photographed a menu, though a paper menu is posted outside.
  2. Five posts found the sausages and sauces not salty, one comparing them favourably with Germany. One post disagreed, saying it could taste a bit salty without beer.
  3. Thirteen posts called the schnitzel crust crisp. It comes with Hela ketchup, which several likened to tonkatsu sauce, and blueberry jam, and several posts recommend squeezing the lemon over it.
  4. Three posts said the hand basin is separate, outside the toilet.
2 more
  1. Fourteen posts said it is an easy walk from Itaewon Station; the times given were one, two, two, two, under three, three to four, five and about five minutes. Several give the same route: from exit 1 follow the main road and turn into the alley at the Twosome Place.
  2. Three posts got a free cabbage salad or truffle ice cream for posting a Naver review.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Fourteen posts said it is an easy walk from Itaewon Station; the times given were one, two, two, two, under three, three to four, five and about five minutes. Several give the same route: from exit 1 follow the main road and turn into the alley at the Twosome Place.

Getting inside

In a basement17 of 27 posts
Toilet inside7 of 27 posts
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read)

The Mop uses two floors. Seventeen posts went down to the basement or saw its seating. Several who ate upstairs at lunch said they had to go downstairs to pay, and one found the ground floor full and was sent down to the bar. Several noted the cooking is done in the basement.

No post mentioned a step at the door, a ramp or a lift. The basement is reached by stairs, and one post found the stairs by the toilet very dark and suggested using the building's main stairs instead. We don't know whether a wheelchair or pram can get in; that is not a no, just that nobody wrote about it.

Seven posts said the toilet is inside on the ground floor, next to the counter. Several mentioned the mouthwash and small cups left out for guests.

Only one post said whether the toilet is split by gender: it is unisex, and the post called it very clean.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post reported waiting. One walked in and found it quiet; one found the ground floor full and was seated in the basement. Posts put the ground floor at about four tables, so we can't say what busy times look like.
  • Posts split on free sides. Two that ordered banger and mash got pickles and bread first; one that ordered fried rice and pasta said there are no default pickles or sides. It seems to depend on the dish.
  • Posts split on the schnitzel's thickness: one called it very thick, two called the meat thinner than tonkatsu.
  • Prices have gone up. Banger and mash was 26,900 won in February and April posts and 27,900 won by September; the cream-cheese kimchi fried rice went from 17,900 to 18,900 won and extra bread from 2,000 to 3,000 won. The schnitzel plate (17,900), currywurst (13,900) and tantanmen (7,500) held steady. One post paid about 30,000 won for two dishes. No post called it expensive; two called it good value.
  • Opening hours have changed, and posts copy the current ones differently. Four posts from February to April had it closed Mondays only, open 11:00-23:00 Sunday and Tuesday to Thursday; every post from June on has it closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Since June there are two versions, five posts each: Wed-Thu 17:00-23:00, Fri-Sat 11:00-02:00, Sun 11:00-23:00; or Wed-Thu 17:00-22:30, Fri-Sat 11:30-14:30 and 17:00-00:30, Sun 11:30-14:30 and 17:00-22:30. Three more posts give yet other hours. All are copied from listings, so check before you go.
  • Seven posts list the phone number as 0507-1307-2226; one wrote 2227. Three posts said you can book, two of them having booked and found a table set for them.
  • Most posts repeat the same lines in the same order: the owner brought German sausage recipes and can make 28 kinds that rotate monthly, the shop's mugs, plates, incense and books, and the drinks list 'for perfect pairing'. Eighteen posts say 28 kinds, one says 29. We treat this as the house's own copy and did not count it. Four posts disclosed sponsorship or a free voucher; the rest said nothing either way.
