Simisimi
시미시미 A small cooking-and-drinking house one lane off the Ikseon-dong crowds, where five outdoor tables fill before the room does and the first order has to include a main.
Data as of · Published ·
Simisimi is a cooking-and-drinking house down a narrow lane where the Ikseon-dong hanok streets give onto Seosunra-gil, a few minutes from exit 6 at Jongno 3-ga and one turning off the main run of outdoor tables. Wooden tables sit in a row outside a brick front; inside there is a bar and a handful of tables. Hotpots — sukiyaki, a mala pot — clams steamed in liquor, and pasta are the mains, and a chilli-cheese potato cake turns up in almost every account. They do not stock ordinary soju, keeping highballs, sours, sake, wine and distilled spirits instead, and the highballs can be made alcohol-free. You order by QR code at the table. The posts we read run from May to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- "Just a quick second stop" may not be as quick as you think. Two writers record the ordering rule: one quotes it plainly — a first order takes one main and up to two sides — and one records walking into it: "we were already full and wanted one small thing and a beer each, but you have to order a main." Sides start at ₩8,000; mains start at ₩19,000, and that sets the floor for the first round. Worth knowing, because a good number of these writers recommend the place precisely as somewhere to go on after dinner. The one who got caught by the rule ordered the cheapest pasta — and says it was the best thing she ate that night.
- The outside is the point of this place. Turn into the lane and the tables in front of the shop are the first thing you see; one writer calls them "the whole flower of it." But there are not many — two writers counted, one saying "exactly five," the other "five or six." So on a fine evening the outside fills first: one arrived early on a Thursday to find nearly everyone already out there and sat indoors; one queued for an outside table although indoors was free; one got the last one that was not reserved. There is an awning, so rain is survivable — though a writer in the outermost seat got wet until the staff closed it.
- It is a small room. One writer counted about eight tables inside, another exactly five outside, a third remembered five or six in all. Four describe it as compact — "not many tables," "the room is on the tight side." Two consequences turn up: one writer was seated right outside the lavatory door and did not find it relaxing, and one ordered a bubbling hotpot on a hot evening and found the room itself got warm — her advice, if you feel the heat, is to sit outside.
- People pick this place because the drinking streets around the corner are loud. Eight writers call it quiet, and nearly all of them say so by comparison: "the Jongno 3-ga end gets so crowded you cannot hear yourself," "the quiet yard I found by dodging the crush," "none of the din of the main run, but the lane atmosphere intact." Being one turning off the main street is the whole of its location. What you look at from the tables is that lane — one writer thought the crooked alley opposite looked like Jiufen in Taiwan.

Not one writer parked a car. One says there is no car park of the shop's own, and four point to the public one in front. But none of the four actually used it: one came up from Daegu by train and copied out the tariff from the listing (₩1,000 for the first ten minutes, ₩6,000 an hour after that, ₩30,000 a day), and another writes only that "apparently it is easy to get to by car." Arriving by train is well covered: two to seven minutes from exit 6 at Jongno 3-ga, with two writers putting a number on it — 243 and 250 metres.

No writer says what floor this place is on. The words stairs and lift do not appear anywhere in what we read. All the posts establish is that you walk in off the lane — past the outdoor tables that stand on the street in front of the door. One post gives a different street address from the one in our records, while its own check-in points to the registered one; we could not settle which is right. Two writers warn that the sign is easy to miss — "you may not see the name anywhere, but this is the place."
Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pram. Not one of these posts contains the words wheelchair, pram, ramp, threshold or step. That is not a no — it is that we do not know. For what can be read: the seating is tables set on the lane outside and tables and a bar counter inside, and four writers describe the inside as tight.
The lavatory is inside the room, and it is unisex. Several writers note that it is indoors, three of them adding that it is not split by sex — two make the point that at a place where you drink outdoors, this is the thing that usually goes wrong, and here it does not. Four call it roomy and clean. Not one post says whether there is an accessible cubicle or a step at the door. Three mention a coat rail along one wall and a basket under each table for bags.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Six of these posts carry the same sentence, almost word for word: that the terrace is kept warm in winter so you can sit out all year. Not one of the writers went in winter. Everything we read was written between May and September. Four of the six mark it as hearsay in their own words — "apparently," "they say" — and nobody describes an actual winter awning or heater. One writer did sit under the awning in the rain. We did not count this as observed: what a post says and what its writer saw are different things.
- The posts disagree about Sunday. Eight say it closes every Sunday; four give the hours as "daily, 5pm to midnight." The second group looks like the Naver summary copied across, but we could not settle it, so both are published. Closing time splits too: ten say midnight on weekdays and 1am on Friday and Saturday, one says midnight Monday through Saturday, and exactly one gives the opening as 6pm rather than 5pm. One writer also records a month of interior work starting 29 June 2026, after which the September posts mention a recent refit. Worth a check before you go.
- The number in the posts is not the number on the licence. All ten writers who give a phone number give the same 0507 one, between June and September 2026 — that is a forwarding number, which stops working if the shop drops the service. The direct line on record is a Jongno landline, and it does not appear anywhere in what we read. We could not establish which one is answered now. If you mean to book, it is worth having both.
- Not one post declares a sponsorship. Five say outright that they paid — one posts the receipt — and the rest say nothing either way. What we can say is that six of them went up in the six days from 13 to 18 September 2026, and that the posts from around then repeat the same account of a refit and the same sentence about the winter terrace. That is a count, not an accusation: the bodies differ, the orders differ, and all of them record eating, so all of them are counted as visits. One post was written without anyone going, and we took it out of the count — a roundup of four outdoor bars whose paragraph on this place says only that outdoor tables "are confirmed by visit information," and which ends with a widget of articles about pension planning and lottery numbers.
