Aledang

에일당 Eildang Aledang joins the English word 'ale' with dang (堂), a hall: an ale hall, which suits a craft-beer pub set in a hanok. One post writes the name in hanja as 愛日堂.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A craft-beer pub in a converted hanok, tucked into the Ikseon-dong alleys, pouring its own beer alongside square pizzas. Jongno Lager is 7,800 won and the Ikseon IPA 8,000; pizzas run 22,000–24,000 won, a half-and-half is 25,000, pasta 18,000–20,000, and a brunch set of half a pizza, salad and a drink is 17,000 (posts from May to September 2026). Ten posts said you order through a QR code on the table. We read 25 posts dated 2026-02-20 to 2026-10-07, 22 of them from actual visits. One writer returning after a year found the old wood-fired pizza gone from the menu.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You order on your phone via the QR code on the table — ten posts said so. Two posts said asking for a paper menu gets you the English one meant for foreign visitors. Three posts mentioned a self-service bar for water, cutlery, hot sauce and parmesan.
  2. In the hanok's central courtyard there is a square bar table built around plants, under a clear glass roof. Two posts sat there and described sunlight coming straight in while staying dry in the rain. Regular tables line the old wooden floors around the courtyard.
  3. Four posts mentioned the open kitchen. Two saw staff stretching pizza dough as soon as they walked in, and one saw square pizzas lined up in a display case.
  4. Three posts called the portions large, both pasta and pizza. One was split: the ragu pasta alone was filling, but the pizza felt a bit small for a full meal.
2 more
  1. Four posts noted many foreign guests, which fits with two posts mentioning a separate English menu.
  2. Walk from exit 4 of Jongno 3-ga station — four posts said so, putting it at three to four minutes or about 166 m. One suggested keeping a map open, since it sits deep in the alleys.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Walk from exit 4 of Jongno 3-ga station — four posts said so, putting it at three to four minutes or about 166 m. One suggested keeping a map open, since it sits deep in the alleys.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 20 posts

No visitor said what floor it is on or whether there are stairs; only the address says 1st floor. That isn't confirmation — nobody wrote about it.

No post said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. We won't guess from the fact that it is a hanok — we don't know.

One post said the toilet is inside the premises and another found it roomy and pleasant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in an information post written without a visit, which we did not count — we don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Noise level is mixed: two posts called it quiet, and one titled its post 'quiet' but described it in the text as pleasantly noisy.
  • No one wrote about waiting. One came in because other places were full, one found it quiet in the afternoon, and one stopped by while waiting for a table elsewhere. That isn't proof there is never a wait — nobody mentioned one. Booking through Naver or Catchtable appears only in copied info.
  • Opening hours have moved around. Four posts from May–June 2026 said 11 am; five from July–August said 9 am; one September post said noon on weekdays and 11:30 at weekends. All of these are copied hours, and the September figure rests on one visit and one information post. One August post alone gave 11 am to 8:30 pm. Check before you go.
  • Prices were consistent across posts from May to September 2026, but the menu was overhauled once and we don't know the earlier prices. One post called the prices ordinary; another gave value three stars out of five. One post's receipt shows 95,400 won for five beers plus a half-and-half pizza, a pasta and fries.
  • Nine posts gave the phone number 0507-1390-3135; one mistyped it with 0570. Several posts copied a note that bookings go through Naver, but none said they actually booked. One post disclosed sponsorship. A weekday happy hour from September 2026 was only reported as 'planned', so it is unconfirmed.
