Art Monster

아트몬스터 익선동점 Ateumonseuteo Ikseondong-jeom Art Monster is the name of the Korean craft brewery behind this taproom; Ikseondong-jeom simply means its Ikseon-dong branch.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

A craft-beer taproom in a converted hanok with a central courtyard, tucked into the Ikseon-dong alleys. Posts give 6,500 won for a small glass (390–415 ml), 19,900 won for a five-beer sampler of 220 ml pours, and 19,900 won for the Among pizza topped with rocket and house-made ricotta. Most visitors came as a second or third stop after dinner to compare several beers. We read 20 posts from July to October 2026; 14 describe a visit here (one recalls a trip in July 2022). One only introduces the place, and five were set aside because they cover the Myeongdong branch, a beer-festival booth, or other businesses.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Two posts ordered on a table tablet. Several describe a fully self-service routine: you collect your beer and food when it is ready and return your own glasses and plates. One post warned that the hanok layout makes carrying plates around tricky, and another said no one explained how you would know your order was ready.
  2. Two posts say beer can be taken away in cans — one specified 500 ml cans — and one added that you pack up leftover food yourself.
  3. Three posts came with friends (three people splitting two samplers, four sharing two pizzas) and three with a spouse or partner. One post says a friend had booked ahead.

Where it is

Map showing where Art Monster is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No post says which floor the seating is on or mentions stairs — not that there are none, just that nobody wrote about it.

It is a converted old hanok, but nobody wrote about an entrance step or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in.

No post says whether the restroom is inside or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 9 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • One post from the Chuseok holiday said the beer took quite a while, staff were not very friendly, and the room felt dark, loud and chaotic. No other post said the same, and one Saturday-afternoon visit found it quieter than evenings — it seems to depend on timing.
  • The line about Jongno 3-ga Station exit 6 and a five-minute walk that appears in many posts is copied from the shop's listing, so we did not count it. No post describes the walk itself.
  • No post mentions queuing. One found it not very crowded on the Liberation Day holiday and another found it busy over Chuseok, but nobody wrote about waiting.
  • Opening hours appear in three posts, all copied from the listing. All three give 15:00–23:30 on weekdays, and one says Fridays run to midnight. For Saturday, two posts say 14:00–24:00 and one says 14:00–23:00; for Sunday, one says 14:00–23:00 while another lumps the weekend together as closing at midnight. One post lists no closing day. Check before you go.
  • Prices for a glass of beer, the pizza and the sampler are known, but no post says what a full visit cost. The 6,500-won small glass was the same in July, September and October posts.
  • The phone number 02-745-0721 appears in only one post. One visitor went on a friend's reservation, but no post explains how to book.
  • A September repeat visitor noted the beer list had changed a little but did not say how; the tap line-up may rotate.
