Yeonmakchang Geondae Jigyeongjeom
연막창 건대직영점 Yeon is the lotus leaf the chain ages its makchang (grilled pork large intestine) in, with a pun on yeonhada, 'tender'; Geondae Jigyeongjeom means the company-run Konkuk University branch.

A Daegu-style pork makchang (large intestine) house on Dongil-ro 24-gil, down the food alley from Konkuk Univ. Station. The makchang is aged in lotus leaves and par-grilled in the kitchen; you finish it on the table grill (14,000 won per 200 g) and dip it in a soybean sauce you mix with green chilli, scallion and perilla, topping up greens, kimchi and rice cakes from a self-serve bar. Beef makchang (18,000 won for 180 g) arrived in autumn 2026. We read 30 posts dated 8 September to 13 October 2026 and counted 12 as first-hand visits. One pair spent 54,000 won on three portions of makchang, stew, rice and two bottles of soju.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The first makchang order has to be at least three portions, with top-ups in pairs. Six posts say so, adding that you can mix the round and flat kinds to reach three. A couple therefore still orders for three; one put the bill for two at around 50,000 won.
- The makchang comes out of the kitchen already par-grilled. Nine posts describe just browning it on the table grill and liked not having to cook it from raw. One was told to keep the heat medium and turn it often, as high heat makes it spit and harden.
- Staff come to the table and snip the makchang into bite-size pieces. Six posts mention this, but none says they cook it through for you; one describes them cutting it, laying it out and leaving. One diner, there when it was quiet, had staff cut and grill for them at first.
- There is a self-serve bar. Ten posts went back for lettuce, perilla, garlic, kimchi, scallion kimchi, white kimchi and little makchang-shaped rice cakes. One fumbled with the lids, which slide sideways rather than lift; another copied a neighbouring table and grilled the white kimchi. Several also helped themselves to free soda- and mango-flavour slush from a machine by the counter.

- Nine posts found little or no offal smell. The house credits its low-temperature lotus-leaf ageing; that is the shop's own claim, repeated by bloggers, and we don't rely on it. One diner found the makchang merely so-so.
- Expect a queue in the evening. Six posts waited, giving 15, 20 and 20 minutes: first in line at about 6:30 pm on the 5 October substitute holiday, a weekend wait, a weekday-evening wait. One booked through Naver for 7 pm on a weekday and walked straight in. One early weekday visit had no wait, and one arriving between 5 and 6 pm found almost none, though the line grew as they left.
- Five posts call it an easy walk from Konkuk Univ. Station; copied directions put it about 274 m from exit 3, and another describes going in from exit 2 through the food alley. One put the walk at ten minutes, so estimates vary.
- Three posts saw walls of celebrity autographs inside, one naming comedian Lee Young-ja and golfer Pak Se-ri.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 12 posts read) |
|---|
One post says it is on the ground floor of a building in the alley; no one else mentions floors or stairs.
No one says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair gets in. That means we don't know, not that it's fine or not. On cool evenings the doors stand open and people eat by the entrance or on the terrace.
Nobody describes the toilets, whether inside or split by gender; one post's copied info block has a line suggesting an indoor toilet, which we don't count.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 18 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- We set aside 15 posts from 9-13 October 2026 as template copy: the same phrases in the same order (a TV appearance, 'yum', 'Konkuk makchang pick', 'date spot'), no prices, times or party sizes, and orders of tripe and intestines that no copied menu lists. Four other posts share hashtags and sentences with each other, but they give real orders and prices, so we counted them. No post discloses payment or a sponsored visit.
- Beef makchang is new: a menu copied on 18 September doesn't have it, and from 7 October posts say it has just launched. It is 18,000 won for 180 g, with a launch price of 14,000 won per portion until 15 October; nobody has yet written about it after the offer ended.
- Prices held steady over the two months: 14,000 won per 200 g of pork makchang, 18,000 won for 180 g of beef, 3,000 won for stew, 1,000 won for rice, 4,000 won for soju or beer. Two posts called it easy on the wallet and none called it expensive, though one felt the portions looked small.
- Opening hours, copied from the listing in nine visit posts, disagree: five give 5 pm to midnight on weekdays and 4 pm to midnight at weekends, four give 5 pm to midnight daily. Both versions appear in September and October posts, so it isn't a change over time. Last order is 11 pm in every post that lists it. No one mentions a closing day.
- Companions split evenly: two posts went with friends, two with a partner or spouse, two with family. Many call it a good spot for a work dinner, but none actually went as one.
- Nine posts give the same phone number, 0507-1490-0477. Several copy that Naver booking is available, and one actually booked and skipped the queue.
