Yeonkkotchi Hwagok-jeom
연꽃치 화곡점 Yeonkkot is the Korean word for lotus; one diner first misread the sign as yeon-kkochi, 'salmon skewers', and the house's sets are indeed named Yeon, Kkot and Chi.

Yeonkkotchi in Hwagok is an izakaya a three-to-five-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hwagok Station, at the mouth of the Hwagok Bon-dong Market alley. The menu centres on salmon sashimi and charcoal-grilled skewers — chicken yakitori and yasai-maki, vegetables rolled in pork belly. The Yeon and Kkot sets, salmon for one plus four skewers, cost 27,500 won; salmon alone is 13,900 won. Posts describe a place to drink alone or as a pair at the counter, watching the owner grill. We read 28 posts dated 14 July to 14 October 2026, all of them first-hand visits; the shop had been open only about three months. From mid-September it opens at 5 pm rather than 6 pm.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The owner grills over charcoal right in front of the counter seats. Nine posts say they watched the skewers being cooked; one diner seated at a table couldn't see the grill and suggests taking the counter.
- There are counter seats and tables both; 16 posts mention both. Table counts vary by post — five, four, two two-tops and a four-top, three two-tops and a four-top — and one post counts six to eight counter seats.
- The stools open up for storage: eight posts put bags or coats inside, and some say the owner pointed it out before they sat. Posts also keep noting a plastic bag hung by each table for skewer sticks and tissues.
- Two small dishes come free before the food; 14 posts describe them, and they differ from post to post — stir-fried fishcake, pickled radish, Spam, tuna, perilla pickles, crab salad, wild garlic, seaweed stems. Several were told they change daily.
5 more
- Three posts asked for more of the free side dishes and got them.
- The first drink order — a bottle of soju or beer, or a draft — cost 1,000 won. Eleven posts drank at that price, all from July to September 2026; Asahi draft was excluded, and one was offered a 500 cc instead of the 300 cc she asked for. October posts' event lists leave it out, so we don't know if it still runs.
- Eleven posts call the staff kind, and say why: they noticed a pregnant guest and suggested suitable dishes, re-chilled a soju bottle on request with a smile, brought a fan to an overheated guest, and warned that a heavy spoon would tip a small plate.
- It's a walk from the subway: eight posts came on foot from Exit 3 of Hwagok Station, three to five minutes, and found it easily at the start of the alley before Hwagok Bon-dong Market.
- Nine posts went with a partner or spouse, the largest group; others went with a mother or sibling, with friends, or alone, and posts keep pointing out single-portion dishes like salmon for one.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 8 of 28 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | 4 of 28 posts |
No post describes the floor or any stairs on the way in; the '1st floor' in the address is registered data, not something a visitor reported.
Nobody mentions a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means unknown, not absent. A high chair appears only in copied info lines.
The toilet is inside the shop, eight posts say — past the counter, and not through the black curtain but further on. Two posts mention single-use mouthwash left out.
Four posts say from experience that the toilets are separate for men and women; one singles this out, noting how bad toilets usually are at bars in the area.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Opinions split on space: three posts found the seats well spaced, two said the room is small. One had to hand back dishes because the table was small.
- Waits are rarely reported. Two posts mention waiting — about 30 minutes on weekend evenings, or a full house if you come late — and one walked straight in at 7 pm on a Friday with a booking. Others note the room filling up soon after 6 pm, or full on a Monday bar one counter seat, without saying they queued.
- Four posts booked ahead and were shown to reserved seats. Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1347-7856, but none says whether they booked by phone or another way.
- Opening hours changed. Posts up to 14 September 2026 give 6 pm–2 am; from 18 September, 5 pm–2 am, closing at 1 am on Wednesdays. Tuesday is the day off throughout, last order 12:40 am. One August post says Sundays off and one September post has Monday closing at 1 am. All of these come from info lines at the top of posts, not times anyone checked.
- Prices come from August–September 2026 posts: 27,500 won for the Yeon or Kkot set, 13,900 for salmon for one or chicken nanban, 5,000 for soju. No post totals what a meal cost. The promotions shift too: the free skewer with the Naver coupon was chicken thigh through September and asparagus in October posts.
- Most posts repeat the same brief — whole salmon broken down and aged in-house, everything made and sold the same day, skewers bigger than elsewhere, and a six-item list of promotions in nearly the same order. We treat that as the shop's own copy and did not count it. Only three posts disclose a sponsored or hosted visit; the rest say nothing.
