HEON

해온 Haeon Hae-on is written 偕溫 on the house's Instagram, 'together' and 'warmth'; one post renders it as sharing warmth over tea together.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Heon is a tea house in a 1964 family home on a side lane off Samcheong-ro in Jongno. There is no coffee: the menu is steep-it-yourself teas (11,000 to 15,000 won), traditional teas such as omija and ssanghwa (7,000 to 9,000 won), and rice-cake desserts like pumpkin sirutteok (10,000 won) and mugwort tiramisu (8,000 won). You order at the counter and it is brought to your seat. We read 25 posts from 19 May to 12 October 2026, 24 of them from actual visits.

Rows without a count: 8 of 9 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait on weekend and holiday afternoons. Six posts mention waiting, timed at 15 minutes, just under 20, 20 to 30 (2 p.m. on a weekend, three groups ahead) and about 50 (3 p.m. on a holiday, 11th in line); one found it full on a weekday. There is no waitlist app: you write your number at the entrance and get a call. Three posts say they waited sitting on a bench by the gate or in the garden.
  2. The pumpkin rice cake is steamed only once ordered. Four posts timed it: 15 to 20, 17, 18 and 20 minutes, and some say their tea arrived well before it.
  3. The draw is the windows. Ten posts describe large picture windows, and summer posts mention the trumpet-vine blossoms on the wall outside. Five posts sat out in the front yard or at outdoor seats.
  4. There is no coffee; four posts say so outright. Tea-based drinks such as matcha latte, roasted-tea latte and mugwort cream (7,500 won) fill that gap.
2 more
  1. Eight posts call the staff kind, and they say why: handing out fans and shading guests from the sun, moving a reader to a better-lit seat and switching on a reading lamp, bringing an extra cup to share a sister's tea, the owner offering to take photos.
  2. Two visit posts saw dogs indoors firsthand: one brought a dog and was given a bowl of ice water for it, the other watched other guests come in with theirs. Many more posts copied the 'pets welcome' listing.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 22 posts

Nine posts touch on parking, but mostly by copying 'no parking' or pointing to the Jeongdok Library and MMCA lots, five minutes' walk, in their info boxes. One post says in its own words that the lane is pedestrian-only and has no parking.

Getting inside

Step at the entrance1 of 22 posts
Toilet inside2 of 22 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 22 posts

No post describes which floor it is on from experience; only the address says ground floor. We don't know.

No post mentions getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. One says you climb steps past the flower beds to the door. We don't know whether there is step-free access.

Two posts place the restroom inside and two say it is split by gender. Five posts call it clean, and several mention the stone or marble washbasin.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Sweetness splits three to three: three posts found things too sweet or sweeter than expected (the tangerine sweet, roasted-tea latte, ginseng-tangerine tea), three found them not very sweet (mugwort tiramisu, matcha latte, pumpkin rice cake). It seems to depend on what you order.
  • Only one post describes the walk itself, about 15 minutes from Anguk Station. Directions such as Anguk exit 2 (10 to 15 minutes) or village bus Jongno 11 from Gwanghwamun were copied by several others.
  • Company is mixed: two posts went with family (a daughter and sister, an older sister), one with a partner, one with a friend; the rest don't say.
  • Prices on menus from August and October 2026 match: teas 7,000 to 15,000 won, desserts 5,000 to 11,000, so tea plus a dessert runs to the high teens of thousands per person. One post thought 11,000 won for tangerine tea steep until it re-steeped it about five times.
  • Opening hours changed. Ten posts up to 30 August 2026 say 11:00 to 21:00 daily; eight from 9 September say 21:00 Monday to Thursday and 22:00 Friday to Sunday. One gives 22:00 for weekends only, and two later posts that still say 21:00 daily look like stale copies. Only one post says it never closes.
  • Three phone numbers appear: 02-735-0688 in eight posts, 010-9680-0688 in two, 0503-7154-3983 in one. No post says whether reservations are taken; the waitlist is by writing your number at the door.
