Hwayangyeonhwa
화양연화 Hwayang yeonhwa (花樣年華) means 'the most beautiful moment of one's life' — the hanja name is what hangs on the signboard.
Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →
Hwayangyeonhwa is a charcoal-grill restaurant in a renovated old hanok down an alley off Hangang-daero 14ga-gil in Yongsan. A brazier is set at your table and staff grill beef ibon-rib (250g, 32,000 won), lamb French rack (200g, 36,000 won), lamb shoulder rack (200g, 28,000 won) or marinated pork rib (23,000 won); people finish with cold milmyeon (10,000 won) or herring-roe rice (6,000 won). Prices are from posts since July 2026. We read 30 posts from December 2025 to October 2026; after removing 2 about other places and 1 that only mentioned the name, 27 describe an actual meal.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Staff do all the grilling — 25 of the 27 meal posts say so. Several note that different meats are cooked one after another rather than together, meat on the bone is snipped off for you, and staff suggest which sauce goes with each cut. One post found its lamb overcooked, with charred bits trimmed away.
- 15 posts mention wooden lockers at the entrance for coats and bags, so your things stay clear of the grill smoke while you eat.
- 12 posts say the lamb had no gamey smell. None said it did; one only remarked that the meaty aroma was fairly strong.
- Seating splits between a hall of wooden tables and a U-shaped counter where staff grill in the middle; 5 posts mention a separate room for groups. 7 posts say the banchan — konjac noodles, beet-tinted potato purée, white wood-ear mushrooms and so on — were refilled.
2 more
- 6 posts put it a 7–10 minute walk from Sinyongsan Station exit 2; one said that is a bit far to call convenient. It sits in a lane behind the HYBE building by Hangang Elementary, and one post advises using a map app the first time.
- 8 posts were dates, 6 family meals, 3 with friends and 2 work or group dinners.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 27 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 3 of 27 posts |
| Separate restrooms | 2 of 27 posts |
No one mentioned steps or a threshold at the entrance, or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post calls it a single-storey hanok, and another warns the lighting is dim enough to watch your footing at night. Silence here means we don't know, not that it is step-free.
3 posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant, and 2 that it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post describes waiting. 6 posts booked ahead; one that went at 7:30 pm on a Sunday via Naver booking found only about five tables occupied. How long a walk-in waits, we don't know.
- Opening hours are mostly copied into post headers. Posts from August 2026 on give Sunday–Friday 17:00–23:00 and Saturday alone 15:00–23:00; earlier posts say both weekend days opened at 15:00, and a 29 July post went for the 3 pm Sunday opening. Four early-July 2026 posts list weekday lunch (opening 11:00, break 15:00–17:00), but three others that month say weekdays start at 17:00, so we can't tell whether lunch is still served. The only word on closing days is one December 2025 post saying open every day.
- Prices have gone up. In December 2025 the ibon-rib was 30,000 won, French rack 35,000, marinated pork 22,000 and herring-roe rice 5,000; posts from summer 2026 give 32,000, 36,000, 23,000 and 6,000. The 500g French rack was written as 87,000 won in April, 88,000 in June and 89,000 in September–October. One table of three spent about 180,000 won with drinks; a couple spent 75,000. Three posts call it expensive, one called it reasonable.
- The potato-noodle naengmyeon gave way to siwon milmyeon. Four posts from December 2025 to early July 2026 ate the potato noodles (9,000 won in December 2025); on 1 July one diner found them sold out and had milmyeon instead. Since then only milmyeon (10,000 won) gets ordered, and the potato noodles appear only as a review-event freebie. One post took milmyeon for a summer-only item, so whether it stays through winter is unknown.
- Three posts disclose sponsorship, three say they paid themselves, and the other 21 say nothing. Two posts from 2 and 3 September 2026 are near-identical — same locker tip, same private-room line, U-shaped table and seven banchan, in the same order. Five posts mention the review-for-a-freebie event (a highball, herring-roe rice or potato noodles).
- Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1340-6825. Bookings were made through Naver and CatchTable; one post copied that the annex room seats 8–22 with a 900,000 won minimum spend.
