Grill houseKorean

Sutjang

숯장 Sut means charcoal; the house's own story, repeated in several posts, ties the name to charcoal and the craftsman's (jangin) hand, and everything here is grilled over charcoal.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Sutjang is a charcoal pork house tucked into an alley off Hangang-daero 52-gil in Yongsan's Yongnidan-gil. Pork belly, neck and saitsal go on a charcoal grill at your table; you stuff a black squid-ink roll with potato salad, radish and meat for a mini burger, and at the end staff pull a roasted potato out of the coals. Per portion it is 19,000 won for belly, 20,000 for neck, 21,000 for saitsal; the two-person set is 80,000. Nine posts say it is an easy walk from the station (3 to 5 minutes from Samgakji exit 3). Eight writers came with friends, six with a partner or spouse. We read 30 posts from 1 March to 14 October 2026, 29 of them actual visits. The claim that the pork is K-Duroc from Hoeun Farm is the restaurant's own line, which we pass along but do not count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Whether staff grill for you depends on how busy they are. Nine posts say staff did the grilling, three say they grilled themselves, and four had staff start the meat and then took over. One writer notes staff grill when they are not busy; a 18 September post says that despite asking when booking, staff just dropped the meat on the grill and left. Posts from 16 May and 31 August grilled their own.
  2. There is no corkage fee. Seven posts brought their own bottles (wine, Kongfujiajiu and the like), and five say no glasses are provided, so bring your own; one writer was told to drink wine from soju or beer glasses.
  3. Thirteen posts saw the wall of celebrity autographs themselves: Seventeen, BTS's Jungkook, TWS and others. A repeat visitor on 1 September noticed new TWS signatures. Hearsay such as 'they say it's a regular haunt' is not counted.
  4. Thirteen posts ordered on their own phones at the table, some by tapping an NFC card and some by scanning a QR code; one says both work.
3 more
  1. Fifteen posts mention private rooms. Two, in near-identical wording, say there are three rooms (six, four and six seats) that can be joined, with a 40,000-won-per-person minimum for group room bookings. A 29 July writer had booked but found the rooms full and sat in the hall.
  2. Ten posts call the room spacious; one disagrees, saying half the floor is private rooms so the hall seating feels tight.
  3. Three posts note the neck cut must be ordered for at least two.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 29 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 29 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; only the address says ground floor.

No post mentions a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no barrier. The entrance is down an alley off the main road; one post calls it a narrow passage and another describes a closed black steel door.

Two posts confirm the restroom is inside the restaurant, one adding that it is split by gender. Four mention mouthwash or hair ties in the restroom. No one mentions an accessible restroom.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours have changed. Posts from March to July 2026 list 11:30 to 23:00 daily with an afternoon break (14:30 to 16:30; one says to 17:00). All ten posts from 23 August that give hours say weekdays 15:00 to 23:00; for weekends six say from 12:00 and one from 11:00, with no break. No recent post mentions a closing day.
  • The sets changed around the same time. Two July posts ordered a four-person set at 133,000 won; from 23 August posts list a two-person set at 80,000 won, which a repeat visitor on 1 September described as newly launched.
  • Prices were reported the same from March to August (belly 19,000, neck 20,000, saitsal 21,000 won). One September post gives 17,000 won for neck. For skirt meat, one post lists 19,000 won and another says it is set-only. The two-person set works out to about 40,000 won a head before drinks and extras.
  • No one wrote that they had to wait. Two posts walked straight in (Sunday 8 pm, a weekday evening). Four warn you might wait without a booking, but none actually did. A 29 July writer booked for 5 pm and saw every table fill within half an hour.
  • Five posts give the phone number as 0507-1441-1512; one writes 070-1441-1512. Most who booked used CatchTable; one booked by phone.
  • Several posts look like they share a script: the restaurant's tagline about a former print shop where 'flavor is now printed by fire' recurs word for word, and two posts (2 October and 18 September) cover the rooms, the minimum spend and the glasses in the same order. None disclose sponsorship; four say they paid their own way.
