Machidasyoten

마치다쇼텐 Machida Shōten (町田商店) is Japanese for 'the Machida shop' — Machida is a Japanese place name and shōten means a store; it is the name of a Yokohama-style iekei ramen chain.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Korean branch of a Japanese iekei ramen chain, on the ground floor of a building on Hangang-daero 40-gil near Exit 1 of Sinyongsan Station. The basic E.A.K. ramen (pork-bone broth with soy) is 10,000 won and the full-topping MAX is 15,000 won; you order at a kiosk and choose noodle firmness, broth strength and oil level. Many posts finish by asking for the small bowl of rice and tipping it into the broth. We read 30 posts from 20 July to 18 October 2026. Four were about other shops — three about the abura-soba place in the basement of the same building, one about a nearby ramen shop — and we set them aside, leaving 25 visits. Seven of those said the meal was provided by the shop or an agency; two showed receipts proving they paid.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Posts split on waiting. Two report a line — one said there is never a day without one, another saw people waiting from 11:30 on a weekday. Two walked straight in, one just after the weekday lunch rush and one around 7 pm on a weekday. When it is busy you order at the kiosk first, add your name to the list beside it, and are called by number. Posts mention iced barley tea and hand fans out front, and one mentions a waiting area.
  2. Ordering is at the kiosk by the door, as 14 posts describe. You pick noodle firmness, broth strength and oil level, and making it spicy adds 500 won. One post noted the choices are printed on the receipt.
  3. Thirteen posts describe a mix of counter seats and tables for two and four, and solo diners come up often. On size they differ: five call it small or the tables close together, one found it roomier than expected. Three mention a counter along a full-height window — one could see the Amorepacific building across the street — and four noted an open kitchen.
  4. Seven posts added gyoza (5,000 won) on the side. Eight described the gyoza or karaage as crisp and six as juicy; one found the gyoza more moist than crisp.

  1. Many posts mention being greeted in Japanese as they walked in, and 13 described the staff as kind. One said staff asked whether they wanted a disposable apron.
  2. Six posts mention a free 200 ml Kirin draft for writing a Naver review, and three actually got one. Five posts drank beer with the meal.
  3. Six posts found it filling — with rice added, one compared it to a hearty bowl of gukbap. Nobody called it expensive; four called the prices reasonable.
  4. Three posts walked from Sinyongsan Station and gave three, three and ten minutes; distances like '259 m from Exit 1' are copied from listings.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 12 (of 24 posts read)

The shop is at street level: 12 posts describe walking in on the ground floor, and one said it was easy because there were no stairs. The basement of the same building holds a separate abura-soba shop, Ganso Aburado (one post placed it upstairs instead). One post noted that the two are run separately, so you cannot order abura-soba upstairs.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits. One mentions no stairs because it is on the ground floor. We don't know.

No post mentions where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender. We don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts split on whether the broth is too rich: three said yes, three said no, two were undecided. The tip to add garlic, onion or doubanjiang comes from the shop's own instructions. Two posts found it salty.
  • Sixteen posts list opening hours, all copied from listings. Fourteen agree on 11:00–22:00 daily with last order at 21:00; one says it opens at 11:30 and another that it closes at 20:00. Twelve say the 15:00–17:00 break is weekdays only, while four list it without naming days, so the weekend break is unconfirmed.
  • Ten posts give the phone number as 0507-1381-1370; one gives 070-7842-1370. No post says whether reservations are taken.
  • Prices are consistent from late July to October, except that one post from 30 July 2026 lists the MAX at 13,000 won; every post from the next day on says 15,000. We can't tell whether that was a price rise or a typo. Couples ordering two bowls and a side reported totals of 22,500 to 32,000 won.
  • Of the 25 visits, seven disclosed the meal was provided, three of them through the same agency. Those posts, and several that disclosed nothing, repeat near-identical brand copy — a master from the Japanese chain set the recipes, the noodles are made daily at the flagship. That is the shop's own messaging, and we don't count it as evidence.
