Korean

Doma

도마 Doma is the Korean word for a cutting board.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

Doma (Insadong branch) is a Korean set-meal restaurant down an alley off Insadong 8-gil. Pick a pot rice or a charcoal-grilled main and it arrives on a single tray per person with side dishes and the house doenjang stew. Beef-and-radish pot rice is 17,000 won, the lunch-only grilled mackerel 16,000 won and Iberico pork neck 24,000 won; several posts list 2,000 won more (18,000 and 26,000) for the pot-rice upgrade. After you scoop out the pot rice, staff pour hot water in so the crust becomes nurungji. Five posts mention yogurt left out to take on the way out. We read 30 posts from February to October 2026; 12 are records of actually eating here (the earliest visit is a December 2025 receipt). We set aside 14 as other restaurants or drain-cleaning ads, and did not count 4 that were multi-restaurant lists or copied listings.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at lunch and on weekends. Six posts waited or saw a line. One arrived at 11:35 on a weekday to find themselves ninth in line and got in around 12:10 after about 40 minutes; another went in on a Sunday 11:30 booking and came out to a crowd waiting in front. Two posts walked straight in, one around 7:30 on a weekday evening and one just after the weekday lunch rush. One noted there was no line when they left at 12:45. One post queued remotely with the Tabling app.
  2. Five posts say you can book, and four of them booked on Naver and skipped the wait. One Sunday-lunch booking was told the table was theirs for one hour; that is the only post to mention a time limit.
  3. Posts disagree on where you wait. Two describe chairs inside with yogurt set out; one says there was nowhere decent to sit while waiting. The 'waiting area' line in copied amenity lists was not counted.
  4. Four posts call the room spacious: tables wide enough for pot rice and several side dishes without crowding the next table, and partitioned four-seat tables beyond the main hall.
5 more
  1. Five posts noticed many foreign diners. One, at a weekday lunch, saw mostly office workers and few foreigners.
  2. Four posts found the seasoning mild, the mackerel not salty at all and the stew lightly salted. One found the stew and the pot-rice sauce a little salty.
  3. Four posts came as a couple, three with family, two with friends or colleagues, one alone. Two brought children; one shared the boneless mackerel with a child and sat them on the velvet sofa side.
  4. Two posts found the staff kind: they kept giving waiting guests time estimates, and came to pour water when called. One post was mixed: staff left the wild chives out of the stew on request, but a forgotten bag of snacks came back one short.
  5. One post saw many celebrity autographs by the exit. Several posts repeat that the place appeared on the TV show 'Tasty Guys'; we did not count that.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot1 of 12 posts

One post says from experience there is no parking of its own; another drove and used the Seoinsa Madang public lot about 10 minutes' walk away. Most 'no parking' lines come from copied info blocks.

Where it is

Map showing where Doma is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

One post saw many celebrity autographs by the exit. Several posts repeat that the place appeared on the TV show 'Tasty Guys'; we did not count that.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 12 posts

No post describes the floor or any stairs from experience; only the '1st floor' in the address. We don't know.

No post says whether the entrance has a step or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. That is not a no; nobody wrote about it. Posts only describe a tiled-roof building down an alley.

One post says the restroom is inside; another mentions a separate washbasin and restroom 'outside', which leaves the location unclear. Separate men's and women's rooms appear only in copied amenity lists.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 16 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • One post describes the walk: from Anguk Station exit 6, turn off the main road into an alley; the sign is easy to miss and they wandered at first. Directions from Jonggak Station were copied, not walked.
  • Seven visit posts give hours of 11:30 to 21:00 and four give a 15:30 to 17:00 break, mostly in copied info blocks. One lists last orders at 14:50 and 20:20. No post mentions a closing day; we can't say whether there is one.
  • A meal runs 16,000 to 26,000 won. Posts split between 16,000 and 18,000 for the mackerel and 24,000 and 26,000 for the pork neck; the post that upgraded to pot rice paid 26,000 and the one with plain rice paid 24,000, so we read it as the upgrade, though not every post says which. One post called prices quite reasonable for Insadong.
  • Two phone numbers appear, 0507-1318-9376 and 02-733-9376, both from copied info. Four posts booked through Naver; none describes booking by phone.
  • Of the 14 posts set aside, six were drain-cleaning ads with our address as one line in a list of 63; three were about Doma Yuzu Ramen on Bukchon-ro 2-gil, a different place that shares the name. Two uncounted listings paste Naver review keywords and amenities in the same template.
