Hvanch is a Georgian restaurant on the Central Asian street by Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, using the second and fourth floors of a building at Eulji-ro 44-gil 31. People order khinkali dumplings, cheese-and-egg khachapuri, chakhokhbili tomato stew and shashlik skewers, and eat with the plastic gloves laid at each seat. In posts from July 2026, khinkali are 4,000 won apiece (minimum three of a kind), khachapuri 13,000 won and chicken chakhokhbili 18,000 won. We read 30 posts dated November 2024 to October 2026; 23 of them record an actual meal, all from January 2026 on.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Khinkali come in threes of the same filling at minimum, as eight posts note. One couple wanted two beef-and-pork and two shrimp and had to switch to three shrimp; others suggest the mixed set if you want to try several. One family ordered the ten-piece mix for 36,000 won.
  2. It is an easy subway trip: six posts say it is close to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, about two minutes from exit 5 or five from exit 8. Nobody wrote about arriving by bus.
  3. You can book by phone (0507-1444-7323): six posts say so and four of them booked ahead. One says phone is the only way, and some note the foreign staff can be hard to follow on a call. One walk-in was told they could stay about two hours.
  4. Seven posts went with friends, three with family, one with a partner and one alone — that last writer says they have been about ten times, half of them solo. Several mention that if you tell staff it is a special occasion, they celebrate Georgian-style with chocolate and a wig.

  1. Five posts call the staff kind. Many note the staff are all foreign but get by in Korean, and several were shown how to eat khinkali at the table. One family felt plates were cleared so promptly it broke up the conversation.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 23 posts

Parking is unclear: one post says there is none and they came by subway, another found a lot that was crowded and tight. Several posts copy a 'no parking' line from the listing, which we did not count.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

It is an easy subway trip: six posts say it is close to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, about two minutes from exit 5 or five from exit 8. Nobody wrote about arriving by bus.

Getting inside

Second floor11 of 23 posts
Lift to the floor4 of 23 posts
Toilet inside2 of 23 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 23 posts

The dining room starts upstairs: eleven posts describe going up to the second floor. The entrance is a small door beside a ground-floor grocery, and several people nearly walked past it. Four posts mention an elevator; one found the stairs steep. One post says the second and fourth floors are dining rooms with the kitchen on the third, and one family was seated on the fourth.

No post mentions a basement. One January 2026 post warns that the map lists the fourth floor while the restaurant is on the second; a templated post placing it on the ground floor contradicts the rest and was not counted.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that it is fine or not. Four posts mention an elevator.

Two posts place the toilet on the second-floor dining level and two say it is split by gender. Nobody mentioned an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waits vary. Three posts waited: five minutes after 8 p.m. in January 2026, 10-15 minutes at a July weekend lunch, and one group turned away earlier after being told two hours. Four walked straight in, at about 4 p.m. on a weekday, 1 p.m. on a Saturday, 1 p.m. on a weekday and 7 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet at the second-floor entrance, and one post mentions seats for waiting.
  • Prices rose between January and July 2026: in January three cheese khinkali were 9,000 won, mushroom khachapuri 11,000 and chicken chakhokhbili 14,000; from July posts give 4,000 won per khinkali, 13,000 for khachapuri and 18,000 for chicken chakhokhbili. One group of four spent about 160,000 won with wine, roughly 40,000 each. One post found the shashlik expensive, two found prices easy, and one said it is not great value.
  • Portions split three to three: some say three dishes is plenty for two, others ended up ordering extra bread.
  • Whether cilantro can be left out is disputed: three posts were told it can't, one was asked at ordering. Several advise checking before you order if you dislike it.
  • Hours: seven posts agree on 11:00-22:00 on weekdays and 12:00-23:00 at weekends; one gives a 22:00 weekend close. Most copy the listing. One post gives last orders at 21:00 weekdays and 22:00 weekends, and four say there is no afternoon break.
  • We could not read one October 2026 city-wall walking post in full, so it is not counted as a visit; a templated 'quick summary / final score' post with no first-hand detail is also left out.
