Refine

리파인 을지로명동점 Ripain Euljiro Myeongdong-jeom Refine is simply the English word, used as the chain's name; Euljiro-Myeongdong-jeom marks this as its branch between Euljiro and Myeongdong on the Cheonggyecheon.

A fusion Korean dining bar on the second floor of 67 Cheonggyecheon-ro, looking down on the stream. People come for cream sujebi, scallop rosé pasta, grilled blood sausage, scallop-and-cabbage and aged short rib, paired with traditional liquors or highballs; at dinner everyone must order at least one drink. Most dishes run from the high teens to the twenties in thousands of won, and since August 2026 the short rib comes as a 64,800-won set for two or three. We read 30 posts from January 2025 to October 2026; 21 record an actual meal here. Six were about other branches (Sadang, The Botanic Hotel Myeongdong) or only shared the name, and we set them aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The window bar is the seat here: 14 of the 21 visits mention looking out over the Cheonggyecheon. A January 2025 post says window seats can only be booked through CatchTable, and an October 2026 post says the same thing.
  2. Ten posts booked ahead through CatchTable or Naver; one notes there was no deposit. No one wrote about queuing, and one weekday-lunch visitor found the room emptier than expected.
  3. Several groups held wedding-invitation dinners in the back room — eight people in October 2026, fifteen in December 2025. Six posts say there is a room; one says there isn't. The fifteen-person group noted it is curtained off rather than closed by a door, so noise carries.
  4. Four posts say a drink order is required at dinner; some met it with an alcohol-free highball or mulled wine. One September 2026 post adds that a main dish is required and tables are limited to 2 hours 20 minutes.

  1. Seven posts say it is close to the subway, three of them a five-minute walk from Jonggak Station exit 4. One gives the bus route: get off at Jongno 2-ga and walk in by the Olive Young alley.

Getting inside

Second floor3 of 20 posts
Lift to the floor4 of 20 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 20 posts read)

It is upstairs on the second floor. Four posts took the lift, two of them adding that the stairs at the front of the building are quicker. A December 2025 post says you come up by an outside staircase.

No one described the entrance step or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. A line saying the entrance and seats are wheelchair-accessible is copied from the Naver listing, so we did not count it. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no access.

One December 2025 post says the toilets are the building's, outside the restaurant. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing text; no one wrote about seeing them.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on price split. Two posts, from December 2025 and May 2026, found it expensive — one questioned whether the short rib was worth it, another thought five pieces of blood sausage overpriced. Two posts from August and October 2026 called it reasonable or good value. One post puts a meal at about 20,000–23,000 won a head, and two say lunch prices are lower than dinner.
  • The short rib's price changed. Posts from December 2025 and May 2026 list it at 49,800 won; from August 2026 it is a 64,800-won set for two or three, or 79,800 for three or four. A diner who went in June wrote that it was 49,000 then and seems bigger and pricier now.
  • Portions split four to two. Four posts found them generous (five links of blood sausage, the octopus stew, the seafood stew); two found them small (the scallop-and-cabbage dish, and a May 2026 lunch post on value for money).
  • Six posts were dates, six were outings with friends, and two were groups of eight and fifteen. No one came with children.
  • Opening hours appear only as copied listing text. Twelve posts from December 2025 to October 2026 agree: weekdays 11:00–23:00 with a 14:30–17:00 break, weekends 17:00–23:00, last order 22:00. One January 2025 post alone gave 11:30–23:00 daily. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Nine posts give the same phone number, 0507-1408-1593. Most booked through CatchTable or Naver; one May 2026 post says that on weekday lunches you can phone your order ahead and find it set out, after an earlier visit without pre-ordering took a long time.
  • Fifteen posts from August to October 2026 repeat the same pitch — wedding-invitation dinners, blind dates, dates — and the same traditional-liquor tasting description in much the same order. None disclose sponsorship, so we counted them, but some may be commissioned.
