Hwangso Gojip
황소고집 Hwangso gojip means the stubbornness of a bull, a Korean phrase for someone who will not budge; one diner joked that the house is named for a bull yet sells only pork.

Hwangso Gojip is an old-school spot on the Cheonggyecheon stream just south of Jonggak Station (posts give the address as Cheonggyecheon-ro 75-2) serving gochujang pork bulgogi sets. At lunch it sells a single dish, the gochujang bulgogi set at 8,000 won a person, with extra meat at 6,000 won a portion. The pork is grilled over briquettes or charcoal and brought out on a plate with rice, doenjang soup, lettuce wraps and side dishes. Dinner adds bulgogi with rice charged separately (1,000 won) and a pork duruchigi at 25,000 won. We read 25 posts from January 2025 to October 2026: 20 from people who ate there, and 5 roundup lists covering several restaurants.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- There is no grill at the table. Twelve posts say the meat is cooked elsewhere and brought to you, most describing an owner or staff member grilling non-stop at a fire pit outside the entrance; one placed it in an inner fire area instead. Three posts note that your clothes don't come away smelling of smoke.
- Opinions on the meat portion split. Of four posts that discussed it, three found it small, one saying an extra portion is essentially mandatory; the fourth said three portions looked small but turned out to be plenty. Seven posts actually ordered extra meat, and one pair paid 22,000 won for two sets plus one extra portion.
- Eight posts say they went back for more side dishes, soup or lettuce, one losing count of how many times they refilled the seasoned laver. One explains there is no self-serve bar as such: you carry your empty dish to the kitchen and get it refilled.
- Eleven posts call it cheap and none call it expensive, most pointing out that a meat set for 8,000 won is rare in central Jongno.

- Waiting depends on when you go. Two posts hit a queue on weekdays around 11:30, one calling it a huge wait. One walked straight in around noon on a weekday, and two found it quiet at Saturday lunch. One says it gets packed but turns over fast because there is only one dish.

One post speaks from experience on parking: there is none at all. Four others repeat 'no parking' from the listing, which we did not count. Two posts say it is a 5 to 7 minute walk from Jonggak Station exit 4.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 7 of 20 posts |

| In a basement | yes 0 · no 6 (of 20 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 1 of 20 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 1 (of 20 posts read) |
Seating is on the ground floor and upstairs. Seven posts mention a second floor and one only thought there seemed to be one; six describe the ground floor, so it is not a basement. One warns the stairs up are steep enough to mind your head, two mention floor seating further inside, and two call the room cramped.
No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there is no barrier. The only related detail is one post calling the stairs to the second floor steep.
Only one post mentions the toilet: it is inside the restaurant on the second floor and shared by men and women. With a single source we can't say more.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Two posts found the food slow: extra meat arrived long after the rest at a weekday lunch, and at dinner the duruchigi came with frozen meat that took ages to thaw.
- One post, reading the menu board, says a single portion can't be ordered: you need two sets, or one set plus extra meat. The same post says the round tables make solo dining awkward downstairs, easier upstairs. Another post had heard solo diners are refused, but that is hearsay and we did not count it.
- Eight posts give the same hours, 10:30 to 21:00, and five say it closes on Sundays (two add public holidays), mostly copied from the listing or menu board. Two posts copying the menu board put the lunch set until 15:00 and dinner from 15:00, while one copied info block says the set can be ordered until 18:00, so that point is unsettled. Two posts say no alcohol is served at lunch, but one saw a table order soju at a Saturday lunch.
- Prices: the 8,000-won lunch set and 6,000-won extra meat are unchanged across posts from March to October 2026. At dinner rice costs 1,000 won extra, which one post flagged as rice not being included. A December 2025 dinner post paid 27,000 won for three portions, without saying whether rice was included.
- Three posts give the same phone number, 02-722-5747. One group of five or more booked by phone ahead of time; nobody says whether smaller groups can reserve.
- The registered address is Cheonggyecheon-ro 75-1, but every post writes 75-2, and receipt check-ins show Gwancheol-dong 11-11. One roundup also gives 75-2 for the neighbouring Jinjung beef noodle shop. The two seem to share a building, but we could not confirm it.
