IMOK Smoke Dining
이목 스모크다이닝 Imok Seumokeu Daining Imok is taken from Imok-ri in Suwon, owner Yoo Yong-wook's home village, and 'smoke dining' names the smoked-barbecue tasting course.

IMOK Smoke Dining serves smoked barbecue as a tasting course from a basement on Apgujeong-ro 2-gil, between Sinsa Station and Garosu-gil. The hall/bar course costs 160,000 won per person at both lunch and dinner. Private rooms cost 190,000 won at lunch and 230,000 won at dinner. The course goes from a smoked scallop bite and a shrimp soup to thick-cut bacon with bread, grilled mushrooms and a green-tangerine cleanser. Then comes the main, a beef short rib shown whole and carved, followed by yukgaejang-style noodles and a jasmine dessert. Room courses add a charcoal-grilled fish. The menu changed on 12 May 2026; two posts describe the earlier version, which had a chicken burger and pot rice with galbi ramyeon. We read 23 posts dated 12 July to 25 October 2026. 18 of them are visits, two were about other restaurants, and three are list posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The bar seats face the kitchen. Six posts say they watched the cooking up close: one sat right where the rib is carved and saw the bones slide out, and others saw mushrooms hanging above the kitchen to smoke.
- Pairs sit at the bar. Five posts sat there. One explained that the bar takes one or more, the hall three or more, so two people could only book the bar; another said two-seaters are at the bar and groups in the hall.
- Five posts ate in a private room. Two say the way to the room leads through the kitchen. One describes a windowless grey-brick room with a high ceiling and no lingering smoke smell. Four say Yoo came into the room to present and carve the rib.
- Portions are large. Ten posts said there was a lot of food or that they left stuffed. One contrasted it with fine dining's usual small plates, and another heard Yoo offer more rib to anyone still hungry. One post had heard it was a lot but finished everything between two.
7 more
- Ten posts called it expensive; one that added wine said the final bill was enormous. One post was mixed: because the hall course costs the same at dinner as at lunch, it judged the price low for a Seoul dinner course.
- You can bring a bottle, but there is a fee. Five posts mention corkage. The four from September–October 2026 give 70,000 won for wine and 100,000 won for whisky, one bottle per party. The post describing the pre-change menu gave 50,000 and 70,000 won. Two posts say ordering a drink is not required.
- This is a reservation-only place. Fourteen posts booked ahead, through CatchTable. Two say booking opens on the 10th of each month at 1 p.m. Three got in on cancellations, and one only after months of failed attempts.
- Nine posts found the staff kind. One compared the service to hotel dining; another said it was not remarkable, though nothing was lacking.
- Six posts describe the rib and bacon as sweet. Most liked the sweet-salty balance; one found the sweetness cloying after a few pieces.
- Many visits were couples marking an occasion: seven went with a partner, three with friends, two with family and three in a group. Three posts say that noting a birthday or anniversary when booking gets you a special dessert.
- One post arriving at noon on a Saturday was told the table was theirs until 3 p.m. One room lunch took 90–100 minutes; one weekday dinner ran about three hours.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 3 of 18 posts |
|---|
It is one floor below ground. Three posts went down to find it. One nearly walked past and spotted a small IMOK sign on the brick wall; another expected a cramped basement and found it was not.
No post mentions a step at the door, how many stairs there are, a lift, or arriving with a wheelchair or stroller. That is unknown, not absent. It is a basement, and one post took the wrong flight of stairs into a construction site.
No post says whether the restroom is inside the restaurant or split by gender. Two posts looked at it, one noting a brick washbasin and the other the hand towels in an all-black room. The second also noticed a sewage-like smell by the restroom near the entrance.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Posts split on the bacon's saltiness: two found it very salty and two said it was not.
- One post walked the 556 m from Sinsa Station exit 6. Other walking times were copied from listings, and no post came by bus.
- No post reports waiting. One arrived a little early and was seated at once; another got there at 11:50 and was shown to the table. Nobody mentions a waiting area.
- This is not a relocation. A Michelin blurb copied into one post says it moved from Namyeong-dong. Two other posts call it a second branch of Yoo Yong-wook's Barbecue Lab, and one heard that Yoo now spends nearly all his time here.
- The course changed on 12 May 2026. Two posts describe the earlier version (mushroom soup, mini salad, halibut, chicken burger, pot rice with galbi ramyeon, buckwheat ice cream), which differs from today's. The broth is now a yukgaejang-style noodle soup, and two posts preferred the old ramyeon. One was told the paid burger add-on had been discontinued.
- Opening hours appear only as copied listings. Five posts give a noon opening. Four give a 9:30 p.m. close and one gives 9 p.m. Four list a 3–6 p.m. break; one says 3–4 p.m. Three say it is closed Sundays and Mondays, and two that Tuesday is dinner only. We left out the 9 p.m. close from the two posts describing the pre-change menu.
- Prices depend on where you sit: 160,000 won in the hall or at the bar (lunch and dinner alike), 190,000 won for a room at lunch, 230,000 won for a room at dinner. The four-glass wine pairing is 150,000 won. One post copied a notice that prices changed along with the menu on 12 May 2026. No one recorded the old hall price, though the old room dinner was also 230,000 won. Only one post gives drink prices: 5,000 won for a soft drink, 40,000 won for a 750 ml ale, 50,000–60,000 won for a glass of wine.
- The phone number 0507-1341-4729 is copied in three posts. Reservations go through CatchTable rather than by phone. One post says texting the number gets you a link to the drinks list.
