Apgujeong Yeontan Gongjang
압구정 연탄공장 Yeontan gongjang means 'briquette factory' — the house grills its meat over coal briquettes (yeontan) set into drum-barrel tables.
Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →
A briquette-grill barbecue house tucked down an alley off Apgujeong-ro 48-gil, past the izakaya Mankai, six to eight minutes' walk from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station. Drum-barrel tables fill a space between buildings whose roof is opened or closed depending on the weather. The signature is the king pork rib, 21,000 won for a portion of one big bone, served in a tin pot. You grill it yourself over a briquette set into the table, and fetch your own drinks and glasses from the fridge. Several posts describe a staff member blasting the table with a blowtorch as 'fire disinfection'. One family of three paid 110,000 won for four portions of meat plus stew, rice, soju and noodles. We read 30 posts from August 2025 to October 2026; 27 record an actual meal (two were about other restaurants, one was a list).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- This is an eat-under-the-sky place: 21 posts say they sat in the open-roofed space between buildings. One describes 'an indoor room that turns into an outdoor restaurant', another watched the cover roll back while seated; several say the roof is closed for rain, cold or heat. One post called it indoors-but-like-outdoors without settling either way. Almost no one describes eating with the roof shut, apart from a birthday party for which the staff closed it.
- Meat comes out pre-grilled and you finish it yourself. Thirteen posts say it arrived pre-grilled (king rib, belly, neck); eleven say they did the grilling and turning. Several mention staff bringing the briquette and swapping grill plates, but none say staff grilled for them; one advises asking for a fresh plate partway through.
- Thickness comes up again and again: ten posts call the meat thick, the king rib being 'one bone per portion'. On the marinade, ten posts call it sweet and two say it is not overly sweet.
- Five posts say extra sides and lettuce come from a self-serve corner; two quote the sign on the fridge, 'Self! Self! Self! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!'. The standard spread - lettuce, seasoned bean sprouts and scallions, kimchi, radish water kimchi, cabbage with mustard sauce - is described almost identically across posts.
1 more
- It is walkable from the subway: six posts put it six to eight minutes (about 440 m) from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station, one says 15 minutes from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station on Line 3. The entrance shares an alley with the izakaya Mankai, and two posts walked into Mankai by mistake.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
6 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post mentions a floor level. Many describe an open-sky space between buildings, but nobody says whether there are stairs up or down. That means unrecorded, not absent.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Posts only describe a 'side-door-like entrance', a dirt-floored alley, and drum tables with low wooden stools.
Nobody says whether the toilet is inside or separated by gender; one post's 'toilet: check when visiting' is a copied notice.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Little is recorded about waiting. One post waited about 30 minutes in the evening; another saw that evenings 'always have a wait'. Several arrived around 4 to 5 pm to free tables that soon filled, and one got the last table at 10 pm on a Saturday. Instructions about writing your name and waiting outside read as copied notices, so we did not count them.
- Only two posts speak from experience about parking: one drove and used the valet, another notes there is no lot in front. Close to ten posts list 'valet available, 5,000 won', but as copied notices, so we did not count them.
- Prices are mostly consistent, with a few splits. One menu photo shows a 19,000-won pork rib alongside the 21,000-won king rib, so the four posts quoting 19,000 (one from August 2025, three from September 2026) are counted as that separate item. Belly and neck are 19,000 won in seven posts and 18,000 in two. Two posts find it pricey (drinks, the kimchi stew) and two call it fair for Apgujeong. Posts also disagree on whether the wall menu shows prices; two say you can only check them when the menu flashes up on the TV.
- Booking is uncertain: one post reserved a table for five at 7 pm, one phoned to ask about reserving, and one says reservations are generally hard and groups should call. The phone number 02-514-4082 appears consistently across posts.
- Twenty-one posts give the same hours, daily 4 pm to midnight, but all copied from listing info. Four say open every day of the year, one says closed on major holidays. No post gives a last-order time or break.
- Two posts read the origin board and disagree: one says the radish and kimchi were marked domestic, the other thought the cabbage kimchi was Chinese. A third post's 'they say it's domestic' is hearsay and was not counted.
- Many posts from late August to early October 2026 share near-identical keyword titles ('Apgujeong Rodeo barbecue, galbi restaurant', 'pork-rib company dinner spot') and the same structure. None discloses sponsorship, but we read that batch with caution. The founding year (2002, 2008, '23 years', '25 years') and celebrity-regular stories are hearsay that varies by post, so we did not rely on them.
