Ugi Sikdang Bada Euljiro-jeom

우기식당 바다 을지로점 The chain splits its rooms in two — Bada, the sea, for fish, and Yukji, the land, for meat; this is the sea one, off Euljiro 3-ga.

Data as of · Published ·

Woogi Sikdang Bada is a seafood drinking house in the bar lane behind exit 9 at Euljiro 3-ga. The licence reads simply "Woogi Sikdang"; the sign and the customers add "Bada" — the sea — and there is a separate "land" branch for meat. The thing to order is aged sashimi, which arrives as a loaded tray rather than a plate: rice rolls, laver, aged kimchi, seaweed, soybean paste, peanut butter, salted kelp, and a pot of instant yukgaejang noodles. Five in the afternoon until one in the morning, four at weekends, two on Friday and Saturday nights. It never closes for the day. Nets and plastic fish hang from the ceiling like a market stall, and when you order a drink someone brings a basket of glasses and lets you pick one. The posts we read run from 26 August to 29 September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Puffed rice snacks land on the table when you sit, and they will bring more. Seven writers mention them and none agree on the name. Two note the sweet coating; two admit to a refill. One writes that anywhere serving these as the free starter is a good place by definition; another wants to buy a bag. Two writers put the wait for the fish at about twenty minutes, so this is what fills it.
  2. You order from a tablet at the table — seven writers mention it, one calling it a kiosk. Ordering by screen cuts both ways here. The good: you choose at the point of ordering whether the water goes into the pot noodle now or later, and two writers tell you to pick later. The bad: do not believe the sold-out flags — one writer saw the prawns marked out, asked anyway, was told there were plenty, and notes she would have missed them entirely had she not. Four mention the printed card propped beside the tablet telling you how to eat what arrives.
  3. They cut it thick. Six writers say so unprompted — hearty, cut thick enough that one piece is a mouthful, not too thin. It fits how the place tells you to eat: a slice on a sheet of laver with rice, aged kimchi and either soybean paste or monkfish liver, folded like sushi, all written out on the table — and six report following the instructions. The combination that comes up most is peanut butter with wasabi: four say they doubted it, three that it works. Six mention the salted kelp.
  4. Write a review on Naver and they bring you a bottle of soju. Four posts say so, one adding that you can take beer or a soft drink instead. It tells you where the reviews come from — some of the ratings on that platform were written for a bottle, and the same caution belongs on the blog posts this page counts. Worth noting that it is a drink rather than money off: the prices we have recorded are unaffected.
  5. It is a busy room, and the staff show up in the writing both ways. Five write warmly: walked through each cut; asked whether an order really was what she meant; brought something extra over when they saw the noodles and rice going down; and, when the prawns ran out mid-wait, produced what was left plus abalone, tartare and octopus unbilled. One writes the opposite — and it is the same fact from the other side: "nobody came when we called (they were run off their feet, to be fair)." Two found the food slow, three found it fast. The honest reading is that which one you get depends on when you go.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 28 posts

It is on the ground floor — but nobody says so. The "1F" repeated across twenty-nine posts is part of the address every time, and not one writer mentions stairs or a lift. Nobody puts it in a basement either. The people who describe finding it point at other things: one at the yellow sign, two at the plastic fish and blue crates outside, two at needing a map because of the lanes. On the question of floors, all we have is the licence.

Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across twenty-nine posts the words ramp, threshold and step never appear. Two writers describe the blue crates, drink cases and polystyrene boxes stacked outside as part of the look — but whether that clutter narrows the way in, no one looked. All we have besides is two people saying the entrance is easy to walk past, being down a lane.

Exactly one person says the toilet is indoors — "and there's a toilet inside, which is nice." The other twenty-eight never mention it. That one writer thought it worth saying suggests it is not the norm in this lane of bars, but that is our inference, not hers. How many stalls, whether they are split by sex, what the state of them is — nobody wrote it down.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • All twenty-nine posts we read fall inside about one month, from 26 August to 29 September 2026. The place has been open over a year — one writer returned after twelve months — and we do not know why the writing bunches like this. So every number on this page has seen one turn of the season and no more. Raw prawns were in when these were written; what the tray holds in winter or spring, nobody says. The same goes for prices: nothing contradicts anything, but that is not because prices held — it is because there was no time for them to move. One post discloses a comped meal, four state they paid, and the remaining twenty-four say nothing either way.
  • You queue to get in, and once in there is a clock on the table. Seventeen posts mention waiting — the thing most of our writers agree on — and eight tell you to join the remote queue on Tabling or Catch Table before you set off. What they actually met varies: fourteen parties ahead; over thirty minutes; a queue forming the instant it turned six; the last free table at half past six on a weekday; an hour's wait abandoned for somewhere else. And on busy nights the table is time-limited — two posts say three hours, one says an hour and a half. One adds that your whole party has to be present before they seat you. Against all that, one writer found the room empty by midnight.
  • The seasonal dishes run out. Two writers went for the raw prawns and found them gone; a third, having switched to the smoked platter instead, watched that sell out the moment she ordered — and all three were weekdays. One had the prawns disappear while she waited, and was given what was left plus abalone, beef tartare and chopped octopus on the house. It runs the other way too: one writer saw "sold out" on the tablet, asked anyway, and was told there were plenty — do not take the screen's word for it. Two say simply: if you came for something particular, come early.
  • This is a subway place. Seven posts put it one to three minutes' walk from Euljiro 3-ga, though they disagree on the exit — four say 9, one says 10, one splits the difference. All five posts that mention parking say there is none: no lot, not possible, use the public car park, and one that tells you outright to take the train. Not one writer says you can park. It shuts at one in the morning, and only one person records how they got home — they thought about a taxi and took the subway.
  • People disagree about the fish. Do not read only the good half. The praise is real — six writers single out how thickly it is cut, and several describe the depth the ageing gives it. But one found it dry and limp, wrote that it takes some doing to make sashimi taste of nothing, and said she would not return; another called it merely fine and added that the rice in the roll was dry and hard. That second writer also could not get anyone to come when she called, and found the tables jammed too close. It is tempting to put this down to how busy the room was, but we have nothing that would show it.
