Haidilao

하이디라오 명동점 Haidirao Myeongdong-jeom Haidilao (海底捞) is the name of the Chinese hot-pot chain; the characters literally mean 'scooping from the bottom of the sea'. This is its Myeongdong branch.

The Myeongdong branch of the Chinese hot-pot chain Haidilao, on the ground floor of Myeongdong 3-gil 36, close to Euljiro 1-ga Station exit 5. You split the pot into up to four broths and order meat, vegetables and dumplings item by item on a tablet; the sauce bar costs an extra 3,500 won per person. Bills that posts recorded: about 150,000 won for two after a discount, about 170,000 won for three, and around 50,000 won a head for five. We read 18 posts from 22 September to 8 October 2026; 11 describe eating here. Six were set aside because they were about the Hongdae branch or the skewer restaurant in the same building's basement, and one ranking list was not counted.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait. Six posts say they did. One registered on CatchTable at 5:43 on a weekday evening, got the call at 8:37, then waited another 30 minutes inside and sat down at 9:14. Another found about 50 parties ahead around 1 p.m. and waited roughly 50 minutes; a third waited over two hours. On the other hand, one post that registered at 5 p.m. on a weekday said the line moved quickly, and another was seated 40 minutes earlier than the remote queue predicted.
  2. Four posts booked through CatchTable. One said bookings open a month ahead and evenings fill up one to two weeks out; another booked almost a month in advance. One noted that the whole party must be present at the booked time to be seated.
  3. They feed you while you wait. Two posts describe a waiting area, and two mention being given drinks such as plum tea along with crackers while waiting. Two also mention hair ties, lens wipes and toothpicks set out by the entrance.
  4. Five posts ordered on a tablet. One said you can scan a QR code while waiting and pre-load your order so it is set up when you sit down.
3 more
  1. One post was told its meal was limited to 1 hour 30 minutes because another booking followed, and found that was enough. No other post mentions a limit.
  2. Five posts said it is not cheap. Because every ingredient is ordered separately, one wrote that the bill keeps climbing; another pair worked to keep two people under 100,000 won. One post saved on broth by leaving two sections as plain water, and another got 12% off the total for being seated at a 'Double Happy Table'.
  3. Two posts called the staff friendly. One describes a dedicated server who mixed sauces and rolled meat in tofu skin; another received rice cakes and a small gift bag of snacks at the end. One watched staff sing to a birthday table.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 11 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 11 posts read)

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller; that is unknown, not absent. One post says the restaurant is on the ground floor and easy to find. A post about the basement skewer restaurant mentions an elevator entrance, but that is not about this restaurant.

One post says the restroom is not inside the restaurant: you go down to the basement, where it is shared with Haidilao's skewer restaurant, and it was clean. No post says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 12 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only two posts describe the walk first-hand: about five minutes from Euljiro 1-ga Station exit 5, visible as you come up the stairs between exits 5 and 6.
  • Opening hours copied into posts disagree. All say 10 a.m. opening, but three give 3 a.m. closing, two give 5 a.m., and one gives 2 a.m. Every one of these is a copied info block, not something the writer checked, and one of the 5 a.m. posts also has the address wrong.
  • A per-meal price is hard to pin down. Because each ingredient is priced separately, bills ranged from around 50,000 to the 70,000s won per person depending on what was ordered, and only one post copied menu prices.
  • Four posts copied the phone number 0507-1426-3890, but none says they booked by phone; every post that mentions a reservation used CatchTable.
