Ttukdak Hongdae

뚝닭 홍대 Dak means chicken; none of the posts explain the ttuk in the name.

Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →

Ttukdak Hongdae is a chicken restaurant that opened in May 2026 at Hongik-ro 6-gil 44, ground floor, a short walk from Exit 9 of Hongik University Station. The headline dish is dakhanmari, a whole chicken in broth (15,000 won per person, two-person minimum), alongside spicy braised dakjjim (16,000), herbal dakgalbi (17,000), gabeuri-cut bossam (29,000), griddled pancakes, skewers and fire-grilled chicken feet. The chicken arrives already cooked; you bring it to a boil, dip it in a sauce you mix yourself over shredded cabbage (seasoning paste, mustard, vinegar, soy at 1:1:2:3), and finish with porridge or a cream risotto cooked for free. We read 30 posts dated 10 May to 12 October 2026. One was about a different restaurant in Sejong and was set aside; one was a write-up by someone who never went. Of the 28 posts from people who did go, 22 fall within the eleven days from 31 July to 10 August.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a queue in the evening. Six posts say they waited: one registered on the CatchTable kiosk at the door at 7 pm on a weekday and waited 10-15 minutes; another barely got the last table around 6:40 pm and found four groups waiting on the way out. Two more walked straight in around 6 pm on a weekday but saw a line forming by the time they finished. Five posts got in without waiting - one arrived five minutes before the lunchtime opening, two took the last free table. Four posts mention waiting chairs outside.
  2. Eleven posts say staff cook at the table. Nine are about the porridge or risotto after the chicken pot: staff add rice, egg and chives to the leftover broth and top up stock if needed. Two are about the herbal dakgalbi, which staff start off or come to cut once the chicken is cooked. One post found the cream risotto a little rich.
  3. Eight posts noticed many foreign customers. The sauce recipe and signs are in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese, and the sidewalk board carries an English line, 'Korean Whole Chicken Soup'. One post counted three or four foreign groups during its visit.
  4. Ten posts say you order on a tablet or small kiosk at each table, with foreign-language menus. Three posts note that the main dishes require at least two portions.
5 more
  1. Ten posts mention the review promotion: write a Naver review and you get the 9,000-won fire-grilled chicken feet, a Google review gets you a banana milk. One post called the feet a highlight, another said they were just so-so. Worth keeping in mind when reading the praise.
  2. Thirteen posts say there is no gamey smell, including some about the bossam. The broth is repeatedly described as mild and clean, getting richer as it boils. One post called it plain and tidy rather than special, and another said its friends found nothing remarkable about it.
  3. Thirteen posts call the pancakes crisp. There is a separate griddle by the entrance for pancakes and skewers, cooked to order, and the cheese-potato pancake is shredded potato fried almost like a fritter with cheese inside.
  4. Twenty-two posts say it is close to the station: mostly 1-5 minutes from Exit 9 of Hongik University Station, down the alley between KFC and ABC-Mart, just right of Hongdae Jopok Tteokbokki. Three describe the route from Exit 8 (turn at Olive Young); one says Exit 2.
  5. Eleven posts say portions are generous - seven people paid 140,000 won (20,000 each) for seven portions of dakhanmari and two pancakes and nearly couldn't finish; another said the two-person dakjjim really needs three. Two posts found the chicken itself not especially large.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 2 (of 28 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 28 posts read)

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller - that means we don't know, not that there is no barrier. One post mentions it is on the ground floor.

Two posts say the toilet is outside the restaurant - one says it is in the building to the left, code-locked and unisex; the other simply says it is outside. Another post's copied info box says 'inside the building, separate by gender', which contradicts them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Accounts of the room differ: five posts found it bigger than expected, two said it is not large. Several agree it is mostly four-person tables, but one counted about six tables and another about nine. One post advises calling ahead for a group of seven.
  • Twenty-two posts give the hours as 11:30 to midnight daily, and seventeen give last order as 23:00; one says 23:30 and one gives 11:30-23:00. Most of this is copied from the shop's listing. Three posts say it opens every day with no break time.
  • Prices are consistent across July-August 2026 posts: dakhanmari at 15,000 won per person, 30,000 for two. One October post, however, says it paid 20,000 won for two, and we cannot tell whether that was a promotion or a price cut. The shrimp pancake is 17,000 in two posts and 18,000 in four. Meal totals reported: 140,000 won for seven, about 150,000 for five; five posts call it good value.
  • Two phone numbers appear: most posts from late July on give 0507-1324-9169, while two May posts and two August posts give 010-3104-8983. Reservations are mentioned only in copied listings; no post says it booked ahead.
  • Of the 28 posts from visitors, one discloses sponsorship, one says the restaurant provided the meal, and two say they paid themselves. The rest say nothing, but 22 were published within eleven days in early August, five share the same block of hashtags, and many end with the same place link. Some are likely campaign posts, so the volume of praise should be discounted accordingly.
