Namsan Wangdonkkaseu Wangnaengmyeon
남산왕돈까스왕냉면 Namsan is the hill in central Seoul, and wang ('king') means king-size: the name promises an oversized pork cutlet and naengmyeon; this is the Hongdae branch of a chain.
Compiled from 10 blog posts read in fullSources →
An old-style king-size pork cutlet and naengmyeon place in a basement on Hongik-ro 6-gil, a short walk from exit 9 of Hongik Univ. station. You order at a kiosk and help yourself to kimchi, bean sprouts, cream soup and udon broth at a self-service bar. One March 2026 post gave 13,000 won for the handmade cutlet; sets pairing the cutlet with naengmyeon or rabokki were 18,000 won. One post said it is a chain with a branch in Myeongdong. We read 11 posts from February 2025 to March 2026; one was about a different cutlet shop, leaving 10 visits.

What sets it apart
- Six of the seven posts that discussed portions called them large: one said two people could share a single cutlet, another that the rice was about one and a half servings and went untouched, another that the cutlet was bigger than a palm. One post disagreed, saying it wasn't king-size by their standards.
- Five posts said the soup, broth and side dishes at the self-service bar are unlimited. One went back for a second bowl of the cream soup, which another likened to Ottogi instant soup; a March 2025 post described it as a beef soup and advised stirring before ladling to get more bits. One post noted the cutlery is kept in a sterilizer.
- Six posts ordered at the kiosk. One warned that the printed menu and the kiosk menu don't match; another watched the number board at the counter, but the food was brought to the table.
- The verdict on taste leans toward 'fine'. Three posts called it ordinary, and one gave two stars with the word 'decent'. Four posts said the coating was crisp.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 5 of 10 posts |
|---|
Five posts said the restaurant is downstairs, one noting you take the stairs and another that there are two entrances. Four posts called the room spacious, and two mentioned enclosed rooms, one of them eating in one.
No one mentioned a step, ramp or elevator. One post mentioned stairs down to the basement, so we can't say whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in.
No one mentioned the toilets, so we don't know whether they're inside or separated by gender. That doesn't mean there aren't any; nobody wrote about them.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Two posts found the seats uncomfortable, one saying they had sagged from use. Several described the place as dated.
- Only a few posts gave prices: 13,000 won for the cutlet (March 2026), 12,000 won for jeyuk rice and 18,000 won for the cutlet and naengmyeon set (June 2025), 18,000 won for cutlet with rabokki (September 2025). Opinions split: two posts found it reasonable, one found it steep for lunch. One noted the sets carry no discount.
- We don't know the opening hours. 10:00-21:00 appears only in one post's info header; three others said the hours aren't posted at the shop or online.
- Two posts gave the phone number 02-324-9900, but no one said whether it takes reservations.
- Only one post (August 2025) mentioned waiting, saying it wasn't crowded and didn't seem like a queue spot. We don't know about busy lunch or weekend hours.
- Claims of '100% Jeju pork' and 'hand-pounded cutlets' are the shop's own wording repeated by bloggers, so we didn't count them.
