Momoju

모모쥬 Momoju is the Japanese reading of 百十, 'one hundred and ten'; two posts relay the house story that caring for the ten guests in front of you will one day bring a hundred.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Japanese teppan restaurant on a ground floor in an alley off Yanghwa-ro 18an-gil, close to Hongik University Station. Every table has its own griddle: staff cook the monjayaki in front of you, while okonomiyaki and yakisoba are made in the kitchen and set on your griddle. October 2026 posts give 23,000 won for the special monjayaki, 13,000 won each for pork okonomiyaki and pork yakisoba, and 8,500 won for a draft Asahi. It soft-opened in late September 2026 and officially opened on October 5; the claim that it is the Korean branch of an Osaka shop founded in 1991 is the house's own story, repeated by bloggers. We read 9 posts dated January 31 to October 23, 2026. We set one aside because it was about a different 'Momoju' in Jeju. All of the remaining 8 describe actual visits, and 2 of those 8 were invited pre-opening visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts say staff cooked the monjayaki on their table griddle — 'they do all the cooking, you just wait,' as one put it — and several say staff showed them how to eat it: flip it, press it down, scrape up the crust. One post says they were told in advance that okonomiyaki and yakisoba come from the kitchen and take a while.
  2. Three posts waited: 30 minutes behind three parties, 1 hour 15 minutes behind eight, and about an hour after arriving around 5:10 pm. The 75-minute post notes you don't have to stand in line — you register and browse nearby shops — and the hour-long one did the same. One post adds that tables turn slowly because people stay to cook, eat and drink.
  3. Four posts ordered by scanning a QR code or tapping a phone on a card at the table. One notes the printed menu lists only the sets; single dishes are only on the QR menu.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 8 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 8 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; only the address says ground floor.

No one mentions a step, stairs, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — we don't know either way. One family visited with two children but didn't describe the entrance.

One post used the restroom: it's inside, separate for men and women, clean, and stocked with sanitary products and mouthwash. An invited post's info box says the same, but we treat that as copied information and did not count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Saltiness is split. Two posts found it salty, enough that one said it's too salty if you're there for a meal rather than drinks. One found it slightly milder than the Osaka original, and one called it both 'saltier than expected' and 'not too salty'. One post notes nothing is spicy.
  • One post found the gaps between dishes long if you're only there to eat, though about right with drinks; another advises ordering the yakisoba early.
  • Three posts went as a couple and one with two children; no one wrote about going with friends or a group. One invited post suggests it suits three or four people, but that is advice, not experience.
  • Opening hours: two posts from after the official opening agree on 5 to 11 pm, closed Wednesdays. Pre-opening posts said 5 to 11 pm daily. A copied info block in the October 23 post gives weekend hours from 11 am with a 3 to 5 pm break and no Wednesday closure; one post is not enough to say the hours changed.
  • Six posts give the same phone number, 02-6448-3767. No one says whether reservations are taken; everyone who waited put their name down in person.
  • Prices: no post gives a total bill. One invited post lists 'Momoju monjayaki' at 17,000 won; we couldn't tell whether that is a different dish from the 23,000-won special monjayaki three other posts mention.
  • Two invited pre-opening posts relay the 1991 Osaka founding and the meaning of the name 百十 in the same order, and one post that discloses no sponsorship describes the special monjayaki in nearly the same words. We treat those passages as the house's own material, not as evidence.
