CAFE COMMA

카페꼼마 홍대점 Kape Kkomma Hongdae-jeom Comma, as in the punctuation mark — the brand presents itself as a pause between sentences; Hongdae-jeom means the Hongdae branch.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cafe Comma's Hongdae branch is a two-floor book cafe right by Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station, facing the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. You order coffee, tea, bread or cake at a kiosk, then sit and read from the shelves. An americano was 5,300 won on the April 2026 menu, and a milk tea was 7,000 won in September. We read 30 posts dated March to October 2026: 8 describe an actual visit, 18 were about other places and set aside, and 4 only introduce the cafe.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four posts say you can take books off the shelves and read them, some for sale and some for browsing; one noted current titles rather than old filler, with multiple copies of popular books. The 10% discount on books is the shop's own notice, repeated by bloggers.
  2. Opinions on size split three to one: three posts found it big, one said it did not feel spacious. One post found it very loud on a weekend, with uncomfortable chairs and small tables, and not suited to working or reading.
  3. Three posts say you order at a kiosk; one adds that the counter also takes orders. One notes a one-drink-per-person rule and that you may not leave your seat empty for more than 30 minutes.
  4. Three posts note that this cafe sells wine, two of them craft beer too; one contrasted it with the Hapjeong branch, which does not. Nobody actually drank any.

  1. It is close to the station: four posts say it is a short walk from Exit 3, and one puts it at 85 meters.

Getting inside

Second floor5 of 8 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 8 posts read)

Seating continues upstairs. Five posts mention the second floor, and four say the big windows look out over the forest park. One found the stairs up alarmingly steep with drinks in hand; another thought the second floor was only good for its single bar seats and preferred the ground floor.

There is no basement level: five posts describe ordering or sitting on the ground floor, and none mention going down.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or an elevator. That means we don't know, not that there isn't one. One post says the second floor is reached by steep stairs.

Only one post mentions the restroom: a single stall, so you may have to wait when it is busy. Nobody says where it is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 12 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queueing. One says the place was nearly full on a weekend and they waited briefly for a table, one advises grabbing a seat before ordering, and one recalls never finding a seat on past weekends.
  • Few posts say who they came with: two with friends, two with family (nieces and nephews; a mother and daughters), one on a date. One felt that with so many books it suits a solo visit better than one with friends.
  • Six posts give the hours as 10:00 to 22:00 daily, five with last order at 21:30, but all of them copy the listing; nobody reports the hours first-hand. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices come from two posts: the April 2026 menu shows americano 5,300 won, latte 6,000, signature drinks 7,000 to 7,300 and cakes 7,500; a September order lists watermelon smoothie and milk tea at 7,000 and a cookie at 4,500. One post notes 700 won extra for decaf. No visitor called it expensive, and none gave a per-person total.
  • Four posts copy the same phone number, 02-322-4469. None of them tried to make a reservation.
  • One change: a September 2026 post says the cafe used to sell cakes from a collaboration with Yann Couvreur, which ended abruptly, and they are no longer available. When it ended is not stated.
