Jingu Odeng

진구오뎅 Odeng is the Korean word for fish cakes simmered in broth; Jingu is a proper name the posts do not explain.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

A basement odeng bar at Donggyo-ro 212-5, between Hongik Univ. station and Yeonnam-dong. At the bar you tick single fish cakes on an order sheet; the tables further in take a 12-piece odeng pot (21,000 won). Sides noted include chicken karaage at 13,000 won, cheese potato salad at 8,000 won and a shrimp odeng at 5,000 won. We read 12 posts from August 2025 to May 2026; 8 describe an actual visit, and 2 were about other businesses in the same building.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Single odeng come with a three-per-person minimum, as two posts state; a third simply says they ordered three each. One post adds that you pay at the end.
  2. It is not bar-only: three posts describe both counter seats and tables further in. One says tables can't order single skewers, only the pot; another notes that at the counter you may end up facing strangers.
  3. One post mentions a single outdoor table right by the entrance, first come first served.
  4. Two posts call it cheap; none calls it expensive.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

In a basement2 of 8 posts
Toilet inside1 of 8 posts

Two posts place it below ground — one says you go downstairs because the floor above is another business, the other calls it semi-basement. One mentions entrances at both front and back.

Nobody describes the stairs down, an entrance step, or wheelchair or stroller access. That doesn't mean there is none — we just don't know.

One post says the toilet is inside the bar, apparently a single stall, so separate men's and women's rooms are unclear; blankets are left by the door.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 10 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post says what a full visit cost per person; we only have a few item prices, and nobody gives the per-piece odeng price.
  • Two posts list hours as daily 18:00–02:00, but both copied it from a listing. Nobody mentions a closing day, and one visitor found it shut twice before and phoned ahead this time.
  • Two posts copied the phone number 0507-1310-5287; none says whether reservations are taken.
  • No post describes how to get there from a station or bus stop.
  • No post mentions waiting. One saw the inner tables fill soon after an early arrival, another says it feels cramped at peak time; whether there's a queue we don't know.
