Jilhal Bros Yeonnam is a small yellow-fronted shop in a Yeonnam-dong alley, a few minutes' walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. It sells New York-style halal street food: over-rice bowls of chicken and lamb on yellow basmati rice with white and red sauce, and kebab burritos rolled in tortillas. You order at a window by the door, collect your tray yourself at a pick-up hatch inside, eat at a wall-facing bar counter and return the dishes to the same hatch. In October 2026 a regular combo rice was 12,900 won, and 5,000 won more turns any main into a set with fries and a soda. What sets it apart
- The only seating is one bar counter along the wall. Eleven posts said the bar is all there is. Of eight posts that counted seats, six said about six, one said five or six, and one said six to eight. One writer warned that you sit side by side rather than facing your companions, so it is not a place for a group to linger over conversation.
- It is close to the station. Fourteen posts said it is an easy walk from Hongik University Station, giving two to five minutes from Exit 3. Landmarks mentioned include the alley by Fuhaha Cream Bread, the turn at the GS25 Hongdae Donggyo branch, and a Jilhal Bros arrow sign.
- Food comes out fast: ten posts said so, and one timed about ten minutes after ordering. There is no buzzer or number ticket. Staff call out your order or set it on the pick-up counter, and one writer found it awkward to tell which tray was theirs when someone else had ordered the same dish. Another sat waiting at first, not realising pick-up was self-service.
- Twenty-three posts said the portions are large. Two noted two or three pieces of meat in every spoonful of the combo rice, and some writers could not finish, leaving fries behind.

No one described the floor. The registered address says part of the ground floor, but no post mentions stairs up or down.
No one said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits. That means we do not know, not that there is no barrier. Posts only say you order at an outside window and then go in to sit on bar stools.
The toilet is not inside the shop. Two posts said it is outside: one said out the door and behind the building on the right, the other that it has a door code. No one said whether it is separated by gender.

What we do not know
- Waits vary. Two posts waited: one, sponsored, queued about 30 minutes on a weekday evening; the other got the last seat while later arrivals waited or took food away. One post arriving around 7 pm sat down without trouble. There is no waiting list, so people stand outside when it is full, and one post mentioned two chairs outside for waiting.
- Posts disagree on the kitchen: two called it open with the cooking in view, while one said a wall behind the bar hides the cooking area.
- Nine posts said who they came with: four with friends, three with a partner, one with a younger sibling and one alone. Many recommend it for solo meals, but only one writer actually came alone.
- Twenty-two posts give the hours as 11:00 to 22:00 daily, though most copied them from the listing. Posts up to July 2026 said there is no break; posts from September 2026 say it closes 15:00 to 16:00 on weekdays, with no break at weekends. One copied that it opens every day of the year.
- Prices have gone up. In April and May 2026 a regular combo rice was 11,900 won and a chicken kebab burrito 9,400 won; by September and October 2026 the burrito set was 15,800 won (10,800 won alone) and the regular combo rice 12,900 won. Two posts from June and August gave 10,900 won for the combo, which does not fit either side. A set meal runs around 15,000 to 17,000 won, and five posts, two of them sponsored, called it good value.
- Twelve posts list the phone number as 0507-1406-1422; one sponsored post gave 02-324-1422. One post copied 'no reservations' from the listing, while another said you can order ahead for pick-up.
- Twelve posts appeared in the four days from 19 to 22 October 2026. None mentions sponsorship, but they cover the same points in the same order (the pick-up hatch, the 'how to eat your rice bowl' card, the review promotion, the 5,000-won set), which looks like a sponsored campaign.
