Deisui
데이스이 Deisui Deisui is Japanese for 'dead drunk' — several posts repeat that the name means being thoroughly drunk.
Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →
Deisui is a small yakitori izakaya up a flight of stairs on the '1.5th floor' of a side street at the start of Yeonnam-dong, near Hongik University Station. Charcoal-grilled chicken skewers run 3,500–4,000 won each, a five-skewer course 17,000 won (posts from May 2026 on), alongside plates such as chicken udon, beef tartare and pollock-roe butter pasta, washed down with Orion draft, shochu and sours. Seating is mostly at the bar, plus one two-top and one four-top. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 26 describe an actual visit. Two were about other places and set aside, and two were pasted-in promotional write-ups we did not count.

Rows without a count: 6 of 13 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Cabbage arrives as soon as you sit down. Eighteen posts mention it as the free starter, dressed with a perilla- or sesame-oil sauce. One post says they had it refilled 'more than five times'; one found it tasted too much of raw cabbage.
- The bar dominates, but it isn't bar-only: all fourteen posts that described the seating also mention tables. Counts put the bar at eight to ten seats, plus one two-top and one four-top. Posts keep recommending the bar for watching the grill; one warns the bar stools are very high for shorter guests.
- Five posts say you watch the skewers being grilled right in front of you. On smoke they differ: one found it not smoky at all, another missed a screen in front of the grill, and a third warned that charcoal dust drifts enough to make white clothes a risk at the bar.
- The draft is Orion. Fourteen posts drank it. In 2026 a regular glass is 8,000 won; one post grumbled it was only about 300 cc, another put it near 350 cc with the 10,000-won 'mega' at 500 ml. A single June 2025 post listed 5,000 won.
3 more
- There are ordering rules. Two posts say individual skewers require at least three on the first order; others note a one-drink-per-person rule on the menu. Orders are written on a notepad at your seat — one post found rewriting it each round a bit of a chore.
- Nine posts came on a date with a partner or spouse. Others came with friends, alone, or in a group, and one noticed more solo drinkers than expected.
- Eight posts say it's an easy walk from Hongik University Station — under five minutes from Exit 3, or about ten from the Line 2 side by one account. It sits on a back alley, and posts warn it is hard to find without a map.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 2 of 26 posts |
|---|---|
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 7 (of 26 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 4 of 26 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 1 · no 1 (of 26 posts read) |
It's upstairs, not in a basement: seven posts describe climbing stairs to the 1.5th or second floor.
The way in is a staircase. No post mentions a step at the door, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift — not that these are absent, just that nobody wrote about them.
Four posts say the restroom is inside the shop. Several mention its quirky decoration, and two noticed a radio-shaped speaker playing music or the news.
Posts disagree on gendered restrooms: a mid-May 2026 post says separate, a late-May 2026 post says shared.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Waiting is split. Two posts saw a queue — one around 8 pm as they left, one where reservations filled the room right after the 6 pm opening and walk-ins left their names. Two others walked straight in, at 8 pm on a weekday and 10:30 pm on a weekend. Nobody recorded how long a wait took. Some posts mention ingredients selling out and late-night skewers being unavailable.
- Opening hours changed. Three posts from February–April 2026 list 6 pm–midnight daily; posts from late May 2026 list 6 pm–midnight Monday to Wednesday, 6 pm–1 am Friday to Sunday, closed Thursdays. All of these are copied info lines, not hours anyone checked. Two 2025 posts gave different hours again (5 pm–1 am; until 4 am).
- Prices rose: the five-skewer course was 15,000 won in February and April 2026 posts and 17,000 won from mid-May. Whether it's expensive is split — three posts call it cheap or easy on the wallet, one found 8,000 won too much for a small beer, and two say the food is cheap but the drinks are not. One post gave a full bill: 39,000 won for three skewers, a pollock-roe pasta and two highballs.
- Seven posts copy the same phone number, 0507-1331-1059. Several mention booking through CatchTable, but no post describes actually making a reservation.
- Two posts weren't counted: one stitched together Naver reviews and keywords, the other copied the shop's own promotional blurb and amenity list. Claims found only there — 4 am closing, no-kids policy, pets allowed — are not used.
