Gossine Gochujang-jjigae Yeongdeungpo-gucheong-jeom

고씨네 고추장찌개 영등포구청점 Gossine means 'the Go family's place', and gochujang-jjigae is a stew built on red chili paste; two posts note that the owner of this branch is actually surnamed Chu.

A retro, converted-hanok drinking spot down an alley off Dangsan-ro 32-gil, near exit 4 of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office station. You simmer a gochujang stew (small 25,000 won) on a burner, then finish the leftover broth as gochujang cream risotto or pasta (10,000 won). We read 30 posts dated 12 July to 19 October 2026. Twenty were visits to this branch; we set the other ten aside because they were about neighbouring restaurants or the Euljiro flagship. All 20 visitors ordered the stew and describe a whole zucchini inside with fried scallion on top. Eight also had the shredded-potato pancake (18,000 won). It opens at 4 pm.

Rows without a count: 6 of 15 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ordering is by the QR code on each table, according to seven posts; one adds that you can pay as you go or settle on the way out.
  2. The room is small. All three posts that discuss its size say it isn't spacious: one counted about eight tables, one about six, and one three four-seaters plus two tables for 8–10. One July visitor also found it quite hot inside.
  3. Four posts mention storage space under the chairs for coats and bags. All four belong to a group of posts that repeat the same lines, and one post in that group says it was paid.
  4. Instead of water you get tea in an old Del Monte glass bottle. Four posts mention it: three say barley tea, one says corn tea. One visitor was especially happy it wasn't plain bottled water.
6 more
  1. Six posts say the meat had no off-smell, mostly about the pork in the stew, plus the fried chicken and the chicken feet. No post reported any gaminess.
  2. Six posts call the batter crisp: four about the fried prawns and two about the market-style chicken. One warns the prawns are crisp enough to scrape the roof of your mouth.
  3. The stew itself comes across as mild. One of the two posts that discuss its heat says it looks fiery red but isn't hot; the other asked for extra chili. The three posts that call something spicy mean the garlic chicken feet or garlic tteokbokki, not the stew. One post found the stew salty.
  4. Five posts call the portions large, mostly about how much is in the stew; one asks whether a small can really be meant for two, another says the meat just keeps coming. Two posts describe thick-cut pork and tofu.
  5. Christmas decorations stay up whatever the season: a July visitor noticed a Christmas tree in midsummer, and an October visitor saw Christmas decorations at the entrance. Several posts describe walls covered in sticky notes left by customers.
  6. It is close to the station. Twelve posts say it is easy by subway, many putting it one or two minutes from exit 4. It sits deep in an alley, though, and one visitor wasn't sure they had found the right place.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

It is close to the station. Twelve posts say it is easy by subway, many putting it one or two minutes from exit 4. It sits deep in an alley, though, and one visitor wasn't sure they had found the right place.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 20 posts

No one describes the floor. The address says ground floor, but no post mentions going up or down stairs, or confirms it from experience.

We don't know whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a stroller. 'Wheelchair accessible' and 'no strollers, too narrow' come from the shop's own listing, copied into four posts. No one wrote about a step at the entrance. That doesn't mean there isn't one; nobody mentioned it.

The toilet is inside the gate: one post says it is on your right as soon as you walk in, another calls it small but clean. Mentions of mouthwash and hand soap there come from the group of posts that share the same wording. Nobody says whether there are separate men's and women's toilets.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • We can't say how long you'll wait. No post describes actually waiting; one early-October visitor found it pleasantly quiet. Talk of possible queues is guesswork or hearsay. Two posts mention waiting chairs outside the door.
  • Opening hours differ from post to post. Almost all agree on a 4 pm start, but six give 4 pm to midnight daily and six give midnight Monday to Saturday and 11 pm on Sunday, with both versions appearing from July to October. Last orders are listed as either 11:30 pm or 11 pm. No post names a closing day. These are all copied listings, so check before you go.
  • We know little about what a meal costs per person. Eleven posts agree the small stew is 25,000 won, but only one gives a per-head figure, 20,000–30,000 won. That post paid 83,000 won for five dishes and a bottle of soju without saying how many people ate. Four posts copy a 7,900 won lunch special, but a booking-app screen copied in another post says there is no lunch service, so we can't confirm lunch either.
  • Several posts say you can book through Naver or CatchTable, but nobody actually went with a reservation. Nine posts give the same phone number, 0507-1426-8847. The free risotto with a Naver booking and the draft-beer coupon for following the shop are the shop's own promotions.
  • Many of these posts are promotional. Two disclose sponsorship or a writing fee, two were reviewer-program visits, two say they paid themselves, and the other 14 say nothing. Among the silent ones there are two groups with identical orders: three posts ordered stew, garlic tteokbokki, crab-tomalley gambas, ginkgo skewers and cream pasta, and four ordered rice-cake skewers, garlic chicken feet, fried prawns, stew and risotto. Lines like the under-chair storage, mouthwash and hand soap, and the 7,900 won 30-bowl lunch recur across posts, and one of those posts discloses a fee. One self-paying visitor called the stew just an ordinary, decent gochujang stew.
