Jeju Dorodam

제주도로담 Jeju is the island the pork comes from; the posts never explain what 'Dorodam' means.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jeju Dorodam is a briquette-grill pork house in an alley off Yonsei-ro 2ma-gil, between Sinchon and Ewha Womans University stations. Meat is sold only by the geun (600 g): mimoksal, pork neck with the skin on, and geungogi, neck plus five-layer belly. In posts from 27 Oct 2024 on, either costs 60,000 won for 600 g, with 400 g more for 40,000 won; kimchi stew and cold kimchi noodles are 7,000 won each. A pot of meljeot (anchovy sauce) goes on the briquette in the middle of the round table first, then the meat arrives pre-seared and staff finish it at the table. We read 30 posts from Oct 2024 to Sep 2026; 4 were about other restaurants and set aside, and 24 describe an actual visit.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Twelve posts say the owner or staff cooked the meat at their table, several adding that they were told exactly when a piece was ready, and one notes the staff working several tables at once. One post, by contrast, says the briquette ran so hot they had to move pieces to the edge quickly themselves.
  2. The meat comes out pre-seared. Twelve posts say so, and some describe a separate corner of the room where the thick cuts are seared over briquettes first. One post notes the first plate takes a while for that reason, but eating goes quickly once it arrives.
  3. Side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar. Nine posts say they topped up there; the first set is brought to the table and you fetch more as needed. Scallion salad, mustard-leaf kimchi, white kimchi and pickled onion come up again and again; the soup is either seaweed soup or (cold) bean-sprout soup, and one regular says it varies from visit to visit.
  4. One wall is covered in celebrity autographs; five posts mention seeing it.
3 more
  1. Fourteen posts describe the pork as juicy, and many say they ate it with just salt or dipped in the bubbling meljeot.
  2. Eight posts call the cuts thick; one compares a single piece to eating steak.
  3. There is a terrace by the entrance. Two posts mention it: one sat out there on a cool October 2024 evening, the other stayed inside because February 2025 was still cold.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 22 posts

No post describes the floor from experience. The address says ground floor and two posts mention a terrace at the entrance, but nobody says whether there are steps — that means unrecorded, not absent.

Nobody mentions a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Posts describe round tables with a briquette in the centre and round stools.

One post says there is a toilet inside; nobody says whether it is separated by gender or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up in October 2024: a menu photographed in a post from 23 Oct shows 57,000 won for 600 g and 38,000 for 400 g extra; from 27 Oct on it is 60,000 and 40,000. Two people sharing 600 g plus one stew or noodle dish come to 67,000 won. Two posts say it is expensive, and one says it seemed pricey but the thickness justified it.
  • Opening hours depend on when the post was written. Five posts up to January 2025 say daily 17:00–23:50; six from July 2025 on say daily 16:00–23:50. One July 2026 post gives 17:00–23:30 and a September 2026 post gives 17:00–23:00 with Sundays off, though a February 2025 visitor went on a Sunday evening. All of these are transcribed listings, so check before going.
  • The extra meat dishes seem to rotate: pork jowl (300 g, 38,000 won) in October 2024, winter oysters limited to four plates a day in December 2024, wagyu yakiniku (35,000 won) in August–October 2025, and pork skirt (300 g) in May 2026. One post calls them seasonal items.
  • Opinions on size differ: two posts call it spacious, one says it wasn't that big, and one says it wasn't cramped and a group was dining there. One post counts about ten round tables.
  • Only one post mentions a wait: on a weekday evening in December 2024, people were queuing as the writer left. Others say the room was half full at 6 pm and full by 7, or already busy early on a rainy evening, but nobody says they had to wait. Phone reservations (02-312-9334) appear only in transcribed listings.
  • Three posts disclose sponsorship or an invited visit, all from October–December 2024. A September 2025 post offers only generic praise with no account of a visit, so we did not count it as one. Claims like '10 years in business' and 'top 1% Korean pork' are the restaurant's own slogans, repeated by bloggers, and we don't rely on them.
