Marapumgyeok is a mala shop in the basement of a building on Yeongdong-daero 85-gil, between Samseong Station and Whimoon High School. You fill a basket with ingredients, have it weighed at the counter, choose soup or dry stir-fry, and pick a spice level from 0 to 3. One post copied the menu prices: 2,200 won per 100 g for the soup, 3,500 won for the stir-fry; guobaorou is 18,000 won, or 10,000 for the small size. Twelve posts mention free, unlimited rice at the self-serve corner. We read 20 posts from June to October 2026; 16 of them record actually eating here.

What sets it apart
- Eleven posts say the room is bigger than expected. Two mention single seats for solo diners, one also group tables. The September 2026 batch of templated promo posts repeats the same line, and this count does include the ones that record a visit.
- Eight posts note the open kitchen, almost all with the same 'so it looks clean' line. One mentions a country-of-origin notice on the wall.
- Six posts mention a kiosk: your basket is weighed at the counter and you can pay at the kiosk or to staff. Water is self-serve; the self corner has rice, pickled radish, peanut sauce and chili oil. One post notes a phone charger, though not for iPhones.
- Heat divides people. Two posts found it hot, two found it mild (one self-paying mala fan said the flavour was far too weak), four didn't conclude. It is one floor below ground. Nine posts describe going down, three of them by stairs; one says you may briefly wonder if you're going the right way, but just keep going. Several mention a large sign at the entrance.
We don't know about wheelchair or stroller access. Three posts went down by stairs; nobody mentions a lift, ramp or step at the door. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there isn't one.
We don't know where the toilets are. One post's info block says separate men's and women's toilets, but it was copied from the listing, so we don't count it.

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

- Many posts follow one template. Six from 11 to 15 September 2026 repeat the same lines in the same order; four record no meal and weren't counted. Only one discloses sponsorship, but most share the same keywords, which inflates mentions of friendly staff and cleanliness.
