A malatang shop on the second floor of a building on Toegye-ro 27-gil, between Euljiro 3-ga and Chungmuro stations. You fill a basket from the ingredient bar, weigh it, and pay at a kiosk; malatang was listed at 2,000 won per 100 g and xiangguo at 3,200 won. Guobaorou is sold by the single piece for 3,500 won, rice from the self-serve bar is free, and everyone takes a Melona bar on the way out. Reported malatang bowls mostly cost 10,000-12,000 won (10,240, 10,500, 11,000, 12,000). We read 30 posts from May 25 to October 2, 2026; 29 describe an actual visit. Posts begin in late May and two writers thought the place looked newly opened. From September, posts list closing time as 4 pm instead of 9 pm.

What sets it apart
- Ordering is self-service from start to finish: 17 posts describe filling a basket, weighing it, and paying at the kiosk. The basket's weight is deducted, and several posts mention a separate scale by the ingredient bar so you can check the price as you go. Two posts liked that items are loose rather than skewered, so there is no per-skewer charge. You collect your bowl when your number comes up and return it to the dish station.
- Twelve posts called it cheap and none called it expensive (one gave price three stars without a verdict). One writer said a similar bowl elsewhere costs 2,000-3,000 won more; another noted the 13,000-won xiangguo minimum versus 15,000-20,000 won at other shops. A 15,000-won solo bowl was described as enough food for a whole day. Four posts mention a free 50 g beef coupon stuck to the sign at the entrance.
- Eleven posts called the guobaorou crisp. One diner cut a single piece into seven bites, another into four, so the pieces are large. Several noted the sauce comes on the side; one found it pleasantly not too sweet, while another found it a little sour and recommended the Hong Kong-style pork instead.
- Fourteen posts called the room spacious and eleven called it clean. One counted about 20 tables, another more than 40 seats, and two saw the owner wiping tables between cooking. Several mention mouthwash, gum, and hair ties at the self-serve bar.

Access is by stairs: ten posts describe climbing one flight. No one mentioned an elevator or entering with a wheelchair or stroller — that means no one wrote about it, not that there is none.
Only one post mentioned the restroom: inside the shop and clean, but described as shared, so we don't know whether it is separated by gender.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on heat split. Heat and numbness are each chosen on a 0-3 scale; six posts found it milder than expected (one said even level 3 was quite mild), while three found it spicy (one said level 1 already felt quite hot).
- Cooling is disputed: two posts said the air conditioning was strong, while one August visitor found the room hot and smoky from the fryer.
- Opening hours appear to have changed. Thirteen posts from May 27 to August 25 list 11 am to 9 pm (last order 8:30 pm); three September posts list 11 am to 4 pm, last order 3:30 pm. All are copied into info boxes, and the September 1 writer actually went around 6:30 pm, apparently before the change. Eight posts say it closes on Saturdays and three say it never closes; one writer turned up on a Saturday and found it shut. Check before planning an evening visit.
- We could not tell whether prices rose. Four posts from May-June and an August receipt (512 g for 10,240 won) put malatang at 2,000 won per 100 g, but one September 17 post wrote 2,200 won, and 2,900 won rather than 3,200 for xiangguo. With only one post, we did not count it as a change.
- No one described the walk from the station from experience. The 4-5 minute walk from Euljiro 3-ga Exit 9 (or Chungmuro Exit 6) appears only in copied info boxes, which we did not count.
- No one reported waiting. One writer walked straight in at 6:30 pm; two only guessed there might be a line at the lunch peak. We don't know how long the lunch wait actually is.
- Four posts give the phone number as 010-2241-5357, but one each lists 0507-1405-5357 and 0502-5551-3647. One writer said there was no shop landline to call. No one wrote from experience about booking by phone.
- Fifteen posts repeat the same lines — the only Food Safety hygiene grade for a malatang shop in Jung-gu, sauce from the owners' own factory in Bucheon. These are the shop's own claims and we did not use them as evidence. One post pasted the shop's self-introduction verbatim, and a June 14 post says the shop was recruiting reviewers through a sponsored-review platform. None disclose sponsorship, but some of these may be sponsored posts.
