Charcoal-grilled meat · Gangdong-gu, Cheonho-dong
Data as of · Published ·
Misulgwan is a charcoal-grill black-goat restaurant on the ground floor of the Gwangjin Tower building, four or five minutes' walk from Cheonho station exit 2, near Cheonho-dong's hardware-shop street. The name is not the art museum it sounds like: two writers separately spell out the characters — flavour, to craft, a house of care — food made with care. Paintings do hang on the walls, which two posts note as fitting. One writer was told the room runs to about 330 square metres; there are group tables and private rooms, and company dinners and family gatherings fill them. The sign says charcoal-grilled goat, but only one of the nine wrote about eating it — five ate the pork ribs instead. Any charcoal-grill order brings a crab stew at no extra charge, and there is an unlimited self-serve bar alongside. Open every day, 11:00 to 21:30. Thirty posts came in as candidates and only nine were about this restaurant. Because of the name, thirteen of them turned out to be visits to a Tokyo Toy Museum pop-up on the thirteenth floor of a department store in the same district, and the rest ranged from the Städel in Frankfurt to an art museum in Yongin — plus one rib house whose reviewer said the interior looked like a gallery. None of those twenty-one contains a single line about this place, so we took them out.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Every one of the nine posts mentions the self-serve bar — the single most repeated fact about this place. One writer says meat restaurants rarely have one and it made the meal; another says it felt like a buffet. Two state outright that it is unlimited. Pooling what people saw on it: small savoury pancakes, glass-noodle japchae, squash salad, lettuce salad, dressed konjac, mung-bean jelly, sweetcorn salad, kimchi, garlic and dipping paste, with plum, omija and blueberry teas, mango juice, brewed and instant coffee to drink. The table's own side dishes arrive separately.
- Staff do the grilling — the tongs never reach the customer. A charcoal brazier comes to the table and someone works it from start to finish; one writer was told when to eat because overcooked meat goes tough, another describes the hand of a craftsman keeping it off the char. One adds a caveat — she does not know what happens when the place is busy. Two say it is why the meal felt like being waited on: you can keep talking.
- Not one of the nine calls the place expensive. One is emphatic about the value; another marvels at getting a restorative soup with a salad bar for the money. Only one price actually moved on record: the pork ribs launched at a promotional ₩18,000 against a ₩20,000 list, as three writers noted between May and August 2026. The goat soup reads ₩12,000 at lunch and ₩15,000 otherwise. But six of the figures we have are transcribed off the menu board, and the fullest board photo belongs to a post from October 2024 — two years old, so the numbers may have moved.
- It is big enough for a group. One writer was told 330 square metres; one had not known a rib house this large was there; one calls it huge and open. One picks out the gaps between tables and the ventilation as reasons to bring parents, and two saw a good number of older customers. One mentions tables outside through the back door — but that is the only post that says so, and it dates from October 2024.

Parking
4 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.
| Posts saying you can park | 4 of 9 posts |

Writers disagree about where the parking is. Three put it behind the building — by the back door, a separate lot at the rear, space round the back. One says in front of the shop, two only that it is in the building. Two call it roomy, but not one counted the spaces. One notes parking is awkward around Cheonho station and treats this as the deciding advantage; one drove because of it.

Getting there

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.
Getting inside
We do not know whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across all nine posts, not one mentions a threshold, a ramp, a lift or the width of the door. We have the ground-floor address and one writer's remark that the tables are set well apart — which is about the room, not the way in. High chairs and a changing table are the same: one post lists a high chair, in a copied information block, and not one of the nine went with a child. Phone ahead if it matters.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Nobody looked at the restroom with their own eyes. Three posts say it is inside the restaurant — but all three say it inside an information block alongside the address, phone number and hours, apparently lifted from the Naver listing. Not one post records how many stalls there are, whether they are separated by sex, whether they are clean, or how you get to them. So the most we know is that the restroom is indoors, and even that is not an eyewitness's word. This is not 'there is none.' It is 'nobody looked.'
- It is on the ground floor — and that is all we know about levels here. Two posts place it on the first floor of the Gwangjin Tower building, and none mentions a second floor or a basement. But not one post says how many steps are at the door, whether there is a threshold, or whether there are steps inside. One post mentions floor seating alongside tables; it is the only one of the nine that does, and no other post mentions taking shoes off or sitting on the floor at all.
- Six posts agree on the hours and one does not. Six give 11:00–21:30 daily, spread evenly from October 2024 to August 2026. A single post says 22:00 — and that same post puts the station exit at 6 where everyone else says 2, so it is the one to distrust. Last orders are 20:30 in three posts and 20:40 in one. Two say there is no afternoon break; one says the restaurant never closes for a day off.
- Three of the nine say where the money came from; six say nothing. Of the three: one opens by disclosing a voucher from a review programme, one closes with a line saying the restaurant provided some service but the review is honest, and one insists she paid her own way. Among the six silent posts is one by a marketer with 50,000 Instagram followers who takes commercial enquiries — nothing declares it as sponsored, but it is worth knowing before you read it. Three writers mention a complimentary crab stew, buckwheat crêpe or mushrooms; that appears to come with any meat order rather than being a favour, since paying customers record the same.
- This is a goat restaurant and exactly one post ate the grilled goat. It is billed as Seoul's first charcoal-grilled black-goat house and costs ₩45,000 a plate, and eight of the nine walked past it — two saw it on the menu and put it off, the rest went to the soup or the pork ribs. So we cannot tell you what the house dish is like. We have one account, from October 2024: a writer who cannot eat mutton found no gaminess and says it read like bulgogi. The hot pot, the boiled goat, the beef-rib hot pot and the beef-rib soup are on the board with nobody's account behind them.
- There is almost nothing we can tell you about waiting. Not one post queued. One found the room half empty on a weekday evening; another was surprised by how full it was just after lunch, but does not say she waited. One recommends phoning one to three days ahead, another that booking helps on a weekend evening. Nobody reports what a weekend peak is like — none of the nine went on a weekend evening.
- One writer found the self-serve bar mislabelled: a container marked as ground perilla turned out to hold chilli paste. The same writer, arriving as evening came on, found the bar somewhat picked over. Late in the day it may not be what it is at opening — though only this one post says so.
