CHOI.

쵸이닷 Choidat CHOI. is chef Choi Hyun-seok's surname with a full stop after it; 쵸이닷 is just 'Choi dot' read aloud in Korean.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Choi. (CHOI.) is chef Choi Hyun-seok's tasting-menu restaurant on the third floor of the Angsdom Building, 457 Dosan-daero, Gangnam — the building with NEBBIA on the ground floor. Most posts give lunch as a four-course pick-one-from-each menu (starter, pasta, main, dessert) at 118,000 won, and dinner as a set run of about ten plates, from opening snacks to petits fours, at 218,000 won. Dinner plates carry Korean dish names — gochujang yukhoe, steamed egg, clam porridge, maeuntang — and the main defaults to lamb, with sirloin for 30,000 won more. We read 30 posts dated 13 July to 16 October 2026; 17 describe actually eating there. One recounts a 2025 visit and so shows an earlier season's menu.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. This is a reservation-only kind of place. Of the 17 visit posts, 12 say they booked, and none describe queuing. Lead times vary: one booked the moment slots opened two and a half months out, others two months or one month ahead, and one July 2026 dinner was still available the day before, paid in full up front (436,000 won for two). One Saturday-lunch visitor watched the restaurant's Instagram stories and grabbed a slot as soon as it opened.
  2. People come here in pairs for occasions. Eight posts went with a husband, wife or partner, mostly for a birthday or anniversary. Several say that if you note the occasion when booking, a tiramisu arrives lettered with a message and a lit candle; one post had a florist deliver flowers to the restaurant, and staff brought them out at the right moment. One post went with a mother and two with groups of three or more.
  3. Six posts found the staff kind and one did not. The kind ones describe the manager greeting them at once, patient wine explanations, and napkins laid across laps. The one exception asked for a fresh hand towel because it smelled, and says it was simply put down with no apology.
  4. Three posts say the lamb had no gamey smell; none say otherwise.

  1. The bill is the course price plus surcharges. One couple's dinner came to 466,000 won with one sirloin upgrade; another, with two sirloins and two glasses of wine each, worked out to 313,000 won a head. Three posts called it expensive — one felt the 40,000 won radish add-on was mostly paying for plating. Eight posts give dinner as 218,000 won; a single post on an August 2026 visit gives 250,000.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 17 posts read)
Lift to the floor4 of 17 posts

You go up by lift. Four posts describe entering through the passage by NEBBIA on the ground floor and taking the lift to the third floor, where the restaurant opens directly. One says you ring a bell and staff come out; another says the small '3F CHOI.' sign at the building entrance is easy to miss.

No post mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We only know there is a lift; this means unknown, not absent.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or separated by gender; one only praised the scent of the toilet tissue.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 12 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-142 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The dinner menu changes. Two posts on July and August 2026 visits had neungi baeksuk as the seventh plate; posts from September on have samgyetang. A post on a 2025 visit describes a previous season with soy-marinated crab, gukbap, seaweed soup and sujebi. The dish names above reflect autumn 2026.
  • Public transport splits one to one. One post went by subway; another says it's 1.1 km from Cheongdam station and advises a car or taxi. The rest don't say how they got there.
  • No one describes queuing. One post found the door still shut when arriving early, another arrived at 11:50 for a noon booking and was let in around 11:52. No post says whether walk-ins are possible.
  • Views on space differ: one post found the tables close together, another said the room was neither big nor small but the spacing a little tight. One post noticed a private room at the back.
  • The 'no kids' note appears only in one post's copied info block, so we didn't count it. No post went with children.
  • Seven visit posts all list opening hours as 12:00–22:00 with a 15:00–18:00 break, but every one is copied listing info. None mention a closing day.
  • Seven posts give the same phone number, 02-518-0318. Most booked through CatchTable; that groups of five or more should phone appears in one post as hearsay.
  • Twelve of the 30 posts are write-ups by people who didn't visit — three Hyundai Card Gourmet Week notices, four chef-restaurant roundups, a La Liste list, and a furniture maker's collaboration piece among them. We didn't count their prices, hours or parking.
