Chebu-dong Sujebi-wa Boribap
체부동 수제비와 보리밥 The name is just the neighborhood, Chebu-dong, plus the two staples: sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) and boribap (barley rice).

A hanok restaurant at Jahamun-ro 5-gil 16, a short walk into the Seochon alleys from Gyeongbokgung Station exit 2. The draw is thin hand-torn sujebi (potato or seaweed 12,000 won, perilla 13,000 won) and barley rice (12,000 won); order sujebi and a taster bowl of barley rice comes with it, order the rice and a small sujebi comes with that. You mix the rice with yeolmu kimchi and gochujang from crocks on the table, and many diners added pajeon or acorn jelly (18,000 won). We read 29 posts dated 13 August to 12 October 2026, set aside 3 about other restaurants, and 22 describe actually eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Instead of water you get sungnyung, a drink made from barley rice. Twelve posts mention it, and several say it is served cold with barley grains still in it.
- There can be a line. Four posts waited: one for about 20 minutes, one arriving at 11:07 behind two or three groups (the owner let them in before the 11:20 opening), one finding a line at the door around 11:00, and one with a single group ahead at 7 pm on a weekday. Two posts did not wait — one got the last free table on a Friday evening, and a regular says she has never queued at weekday lunch. One more only heard that the late-lunch wait was short.
- There is outdoor seating. Three posts mention it: a small hanok courtyard, seats by some stone steps, and one couple who ate outside on a fine day.
- It is easy by subway. Six posts describe walking from Gyeongbokgung Station, putting it at 2, 4 and about 10 minutes; two give the same directions — out exit 2 and into the alley by the GS25.

Parking
2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Two posts say there is no parking of its own; one parked at the Seochon private lot and walked. Another who came by car mentions only a 'parking issue' during the meal. Four more posts copy a 'no parking' line from a listing, which we do not count. One notes that the lot in front belongs to the samgyetang restaurant next door.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
It is easy by subway. Six posts describe walking from Gyeongbokgung Station, putting it at 2, 4 and about 10 minutes; two give the same directions — out exit 2 and into the alley by the GS25.
Getting inside
| Second floor | yes 0 · no 1 (of 18 posts read) |
|---|
On floors, one post describes a single-storey white house; no one mentions a basement or upstairs seating. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it isn't there.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. Posts mention only a sliding door into a hanok courtyard and outdoor seats by stone steps. We don't know.
No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender. We don't know.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 22 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Eating alone depends on the hour. Two posts pass on a house notice that solo diners are seated only after 1 pm; an office worker wrote that this means coming with a colleague at lunch. One post ate perilla sujebi alone but did not say what time.
- Accounts of the size differ: two posts call it fairly large with plenty of seats, one calls it a small space.
- On portions, one post found them generous and one said they run small; both posts that ordered the acorn jelly found it small.
- Opening hours mostly agree: weekdays 11:20–20:50, closed Sundays (one post has an 11:00 start). The afternoon break starts at 15:50 in three posts and 16:00 in four. Saturday closes at 19:00 (last order 18:30) in four posts and 'when ingredients run out' in three. Most of these are copied from a sign or a map listing.
- Prices are from posts in September–October 2026: potato or seaweed sujebi and barley rice 12,000 won, perilla sujebi 13,000, perilla brown-rice dumplings 16,000, acorn jelly 18,000. Nobody gave prices for the pancake or rice wine. Since a taster bowl of rice comes with each sujebi, a meal is 12,000–13,000 won a head, and three posts called that reasonable.
- Two posts give the phone number 02-722-6011. No one says whether the restaurant takes reservations. One post says the whole party had to arrive before being seated.
