Nalmada Joeun Nal is a log-built Western-café restaurant on two floors beside the Geum river in Yeondong, Sejong. Ten in the morning to nine at night, never closed and with no afternoon break — fourteen of the thirty posts name that as a virtue. It sells four things, really: a plain pork cutlet, a cheese one, a cheese-and-sweet-potato one and a fish one, all of them only as sets with a drink, at ₩15,000 to ₩16,000. The coffee can be swapped for a fizzy drink. The cutlets arrive under poured sauce, on a plate with rice, shredded cabbage, pickles, yellow radish and beans, and kimchi comes with them — nineteen posts mention that kimchi. Upstairs the windows open onto the river; outside there are terrace tables and a porch swing. It is hard to reach without a car, and twenty-five posts call the car park roomy.   **Every cutlet comes with a drink, like it or not.** Coffee by default, hot or iced, and **swapping it for cola or lemonade costs nothing** (six posts say so). Tea, juice or ice cream cost extra — one post gives ₩1,000 for iced americano and ₩2,500 for ice cream. **For a non-coffee drinker the arrangement grates**: one writer says plainly that she wished she could skip it, and another worked out that the set's cup is smaller than the menu cup, so swapping to tea costs more than the menu difference suggests.

  Six were surprised by the coffee — 'we had no expectations of coffee in a cutlet shop, and it was good' — and one relays her boyfriend calling it the best he has had. **The coffee is brought near the end of the meal while fizzy drinks come with the food** (two posts). Two mention a takeaway cup, so you can carry it out to the river.

  **The default order here.** Twenty-five of the thirty visits we read had it. It is old-style Western-café pork cutlet, sauce poured over, plated with rice, shredded cabbage, pickles, yellow radish and a spoonful of beans. **Seven posts single out the beans**, and every one of them takes them as the proof that this is the real thing from their childhood. ₩15,000 including a drink.

  Seventeen call the crust crisp — one marvels that it stays crisp under the poured sauce, another that it is still crisp at the last bite. **Six call the pork thick and two call it thin**: one says it is pounded flat, so what comes first is leanness rather than crunch. One writer warns that **the sauce arrives already poured**, so say something if you want it on the side; another was served one of each. One notes it comes pre-sliced.

  **The kimchi is what this place gets praised for most often.** Nineteen posts mention it, five of them remarking how rare it is for a cutlet shop to serve any. Napa kimchi and radish kimchi come together — one writer got the young-radish kind instead. Six think it is made in-house rather than bought in, and eight say the sourness of the well-fermented batch is exactly what cuts the fried richness.

  **On cold days warm tea comes instead of water** — four mention it, two calling it barley tea, one served iced green tea, and one asked what it was and found the server, who was not Korean, unsure. Three note a water cooler on each floor, so water is self-service. Two found the kimchi slightly hot.

  The same cutlet with cheese inside; thirteen ate it. Nine describe the cheese pulling as they cut, one saying it goes almost like pizza. One notes you cannot tell it apart from the plain one until you cut it open.

  **The price does not agree**: two posts say ₩16,000, one says ₩15,000. The harshest verdict on it is 'nothing special'; the warmest is a table of people all exclaiming at the first bite.

  Eight ate it. **The sauce is yellow** — two describe something like honey mustard with lemon rather than tartare, and two simply note the colour. Four call the fish thick and soft, and one says two fillets come to a plate.

  In one family the vote split — the father for the pork, the mother and elder child for the fish — and one child asked to come back for it. One writer had the sauce served on the side for a child who did not want it.

  Cheese plus sweet-potato mousse, the dearest of the cutlets at ₩16,000. Seven ate it and four of them preferred it to the plain one.

  **The filling is not evenly spread**: one writer found it bunched in the middle, so the ends taste like the plain cutlet, while another found it so full that it burst out at a touch of the fork. One suggests the radish kimchi if the sweetness gets much.

  You can come for coffee alone: americano, latte and cappuccino, plus juices, ades and teas, shaved ice in two styles, ice cream, and cookies and muffins across from the counter. One post notes a **one-drink-per-person minimum** if you are not eating. Another describes a table of older locals settled in for a long chat on the ground floor.

  One writer found the lemon tea unsweet and full of real fruit and the grapefruit sweeter; one found the pineapple juice thick rather than sharp; one says the ice cream is the sort that used to close a Korean barbecue, with cereal and syrup on top.

  There is drink here too — two posts name beer and wine, two mention bar snacks on the menu, and one who came late in the evening says a glass after dinner follows naturally. **No post we read actually ordered any.**

Parking

25 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

This is a place you drive to, and the parking is its one unambiguous strength. Twenty-five posts mention the car park in front and not one calls it tight — twenty-three use words like roomy or generous, and one goes so far as to recommend it to nervous drivers. One writer counted the spaces: six or seven. Two say it is free. The flip side is that getting there without a car is awkward. Two posts touch on public transport: one says a bus stop is close enough, the other says it looks impractical and admits she has not tried. Nobody we read arrived by bus or train. Fifteen came for the drive, and one warns that the country road bends enough to be worth doing in daylight.

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

Nobody checked whether a wheelchair can get in. Not one of the thirty posts mentions a threshold, a ramp or a wheelchair. What we know is that you enter on the ground floor, that the good seats are up a flight of stairs, that there is basement seating too, and that one writer found two separate entrances. No post mentions a lift — which means nobody looked, not that there isn't one. Seven confirm the toilet is on the ground floor, so that much should not need stairs, but nobody looked at the door width or a step. A pushchair meets the same doorway: six visits brought children, one of them confirms a high chair and another notes there is no children's tableware. If it matters, the number is 044-868-7771.

When the posts appeared

What we do not know

• Thirteen of the thirty posts carry the same sixteen hashtags, in the same order, character for character. Of those thirteen, exactly one puts the word 'sponsored' in front of them; the other twelve say nothing. The thirteen are spread between September 2025 and 14 May 2026, and none of the ten posts written after that date carries the set. The bodies are all different and each writer plainly saw something of their own — one waited twenty minutes, one counted the flies, one found the lavatory door would not lock — so we have counted all thirteen rather than removing them. But the favourable verdicts should be read with that in hand. One post declares a sponsorship, two state they paid their own way, and the remaining twenty-seven say nothing either way.
• A few things we could not fill in. Only two posts touch on queuing, and both say the place was quiet — not one describes waiting for a table. Four do say the room was full at weekend or weekday lunch, and one arrived at one o'clock and waited for a window seat to free up. When you can count on a table, we have not been able to count. The fried rice runs out often: three writers could not order the prawn or kimchi version, two told the ingredients were gone and one that it was off that day. There was building work outside in June 2026 — one visitor found sawdust on the tables and her throat scratchy; no later post mentions it, so it appears to be finished. And being on the water, there are flies: two posts say so, one suggesting you come on a rainy day instead.
