Izakaya Ugyu Jeongeup Suseong-jeom

이자카야 우규 정읍수성점 Late-night izakaya in Jeongeup

Data as of · Published ·

Izakaya Wugyu is on Suseong-ro in Jeongeup, in front of the Suseong-dong post office. It opened in the summer of 2026 and the earliest post we have is from July — this place has not yet been through a full year. The menu is built around salmon and raw beef, as sets and as single plates, with hot dishes (offal hotpot, clams steamed in liquor, grilled eel over rice) and sushi, udon and fried things alongside. You order at a kiosk. Five in the evening until two in the morning. Wood, low light, and four writers remark on the space between tables. The posts we read run from July to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Through the summer the shop was giving away a highball. Posts from late July, 7 August, 21 August and 28 August all mention it. One says you qualify by posting on Naver; the rest just say they took part and got one. Those who did were won over — "I only meant to taste it, being free." Two of them hedge in the same breath, telling readers the promotion may have changed and to check in the shop — and not one September post mentions it at all. Whether it is still running, we do not know.
  2. Three posts say it is quiet enough to talk in — "not so loud that you have to raise your voice," "however good the food is, you can't talk over a din, and here you could." But those three are the three that borrow sentences from each other, so we cannot say they are three independent observations. A post from outside that group does say something similar: warm wood, a wide room, tables set well apart, pleasant and fresh-smelling. The same writer adds that the air conditioning was cold.
  3. You order at a kiosk. Only one writer says so, and says they dithered in front of it because it was their first visit — pick, add, order. The other five never mention how they ordered. Two do praise the staff for being quick, but they are talking about side plates and cutlery, not about taking orders. One writer notes that the menu is posted at the door, so you can read it before going in.

Getting there

Map showing where Izakaya Ugyu Jeongeup Suseong-jeom is

Getting inside

No post says what floor it is on. The registered address is just a street number, with no floor. In six posts there is not a word about stairs, a lift, a basement or an upper storey. One writer places it by landmark — in front of the post office — and another says only that it is the new izakaya in Suseong-dong. Whether you go up or down to get in, we do not know.

Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. In six posts the words for wheelchair, pushchair, step, threshold and ramp do not appear once. Two writers describe the entrance at all, and only to say that the frontage looks smart and that the menu is posted where you can read it before going in. Neither tells you whether there is a step. Three of the six came with family, and none of them describes walking in.

Not a line about the toilet. The word does not appear in any of the six first-hand posts. Inside the restaurant or out in the building, shared or separate, clean or not — we do not know any of it. Two writers say the place was well kept, but they are describing the dining room. And this is a bar that runs until two in the morning.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 24 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-277 posts in one day
2026-09-266 posts in one day
2026-09-253 posts in one day
2026-09-243 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Six, not thirty. Twenty-four posts are out of the count — they are one commissioned batch. All twenty-four carry the same block of text, in the same order and with the same line breaks: address, "open 5pm to 2am," phone number. All twenty-four paste the Naver listing link twice. And all twenty-four leave in a scraped review counter — "103 visitor reviews · 414 blog reviews" — which you can watch climb from 120 in August to 414 in September. Not one of the twenty-four gives a price, says what was ordered, or says when or with whom. The same phrases recur almost verbatim across all of them. One leaves an English word sitting untranslated mid-sentence; another has sentences that simply break apart. Nineteen of them went up over four days, 24 to 27 September. None declares a sponsorship. Counted in, they would have turned six into thirty and inflated every number fivefold.
  • Three of the remaining six look as though they were written to a brief as well. The posts of 7, 21 and 28 August order different things (A set and eel ochazuke; hotpot, tataki and clams; C set) and describe them differently — but the connective sentences are identical across three separate accounts. "Wugyu is in Suseong-dong, handy for an evening out" appears word for word in two of them; so does "the cutlery and side plates were set out neatly and the staff were quick with whatever we needed"; and a third sentence about noise and conversation appears in two with only a couple of nouns swapped. All three mention the free-highball promotion; none of the three gives a price. They do record what was eaten, so we counted them — our test is whether there is a record of a meal, not whether the prose is unusual. But read them knowing that only three posts about this restaurant stand entirely on their own.
  • Exactly one post lets you work out what anything costs: ₩24,000 for the salmon. None of the sets, the hotpot or the sushi carries a price anywhere. It matters that the one writer who recorded a price was the one most disappointed by the portion — about twelve pieces of salmon spread over ice, which put all three at the table off before they started, and a white film on part of it that they left. That post ends "we won't be going back." It also records that the restaurant replied to their receipt review promising to do better. It is dated 14 August. Nothing written since says whether anything changed.
  • No post records a wait. In all six there is no count of minutes and no mention of anywhere to wait. Two writers register a busy room: one, arriving for a second round, was surprised how full it was for somewhere so newly opened; another took the steady trickle on a weekday as a sign word had got round. A third says only that there were a fair few people in. The place is a couple of months old, and what we read cannot tell you what it is like now.
  • Not a line about getting here without a car. In six posts there is no bus number, no stop name, nobody walking and nobody in a taxi. The only direction anyone gives is "in front of the post office." Two of the commissioned posts assert that "it is easy to reach by public transport" — but neither says what was ordered either, and neither is evidence that anyone took a bus here. The place closes at two in the morning, and nobody writes about how they got home.
