Hwasumok Bori Jipbul Gui Yeondong-jeom

화수목보리짚불구이 연동점 Jeju black pork and beef ribs seared over a barley-straw fire, Yeondong branch

Data as of · Published ·

Hwasumok Bori Jipbul Gui, Yeondong branch, is a grill house on the ground floor at 71 Singwang-ro in Yeondong, the newer half of Jeju City, a short drive from the airport. The name is the method: the meat is seared once over a barley-straw fire before it reaches you. Jeju black pork and beef short rib on the bone go over the straw in the kitchen, and a member of staff finishes and cuts them at your table. Side dishes come from a help-yourself bar, and most people close the meal with a kimchi or soybean stew. The posts we read run from January to September 2026 — though most of them turned out to be unusable as evidence. Read the first note below before the rest.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. The meat arrives already seared once. It is cooked over burning barley straw in the kitchen — one writer also saw binchotan charcoal used alongside — so it spends little time on the grill at your table and you are not left waiting long after you sit down. On the straw smell, the writers who describe it agree it is faint rather than smoky.
  2. Staff do the grilling, start to finish. They cook and cut at the table and keep an eye on the heat, so nobody's hands are tied up — which suits a family with children, a table with older parents, and the one writer who came alone equally well. One diner mentions a bell on the table for calling someone over.
  3. Side dishes come from a help-yourself bar, refilled as often as you like, by one account. The ones named in the posts: pickled bracken, dressed perilla leaf, salad, pickled onion, aged kimchi, pickled myeongi leaf, white kimchi and dressed lettuce — with anchovy-sauce dip, kelp salt, garlic and wasabi for the meat.

Getting there

Map showing where Hwasumok Bori Jipbul Gui Yeondong-jeom is

Getting inside

Nothing is written about floors or stairs. The registered address is the ground floor, but no post says whether there are steps at the door or whether anything inside is on another level. Some call the room large, none says where in the building you sit.

We do not know whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Not one post mentions a threshold, a ramp, a door width or the space between tables to move through. Several call the tables well spaced, but that same sentence runs through all twenty-six posts we set aside, so we cannot tell one writer's press line from twenty-six people's eyes. We do not know.

No one writes about the toilets. Across the eight posts we counted, nothing says whether they are inside, whether they are separated by sex, or what you walk through to reach them. That is not a statement that there are none — it means nobody wrote it down.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 22 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-02-017 posts in one day
2026-01-313 posts in one day
2026-01-305 posts in one day
2026-01-223 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We counted eight posts out of thirty. Twenty-six went up inside twenty-six days, between 13 January and 2 February 2026, and those twenty-six share four sentences almost word for word — the selecting and butchering of the finest Jeju black pork, the dry-ageing, the straw searing; ten minutes from the airport by car; the main commercial district of new Jeju City; every side dish made in house. Eight appeared on a single day. Three carry the same fifteen hashtags in the same order. Three writers posted twice within days of themselves. Phrases like "Yeondong black pork" and "new-Jeju black pork" are wedged into sentence after sentence: those are search terms, not dishes. Not one of the twenty-six states a price, and not one declares a sponsorship. We kept the four that at least say what was ordered and set aside the other twenty-two. Only three of the posts we counted fall outside that cluster.
  • This place runs a review giveaway — do not read its star rating or review count at face value. One writer got the kimchi stew free in exchange for a review; another says the advertised freebie was a soft drink and she was handed a soybean stew instead. An opinion of a dish you did not pay for is not the same kind of thing as an opinion of one you did. Of the eight posts we counted, none declares a sponsorship and two state outright that they paid their own way.
  • Nobody writes about getting here without a car. "Ten minutes from the airport by car" appears in twenty-six posts, but that line belongs to the promotional copy we set aside — and one post says five minutes instead. Among the eight we counted, not one mentions a bus or a walk. Beyond the fact that it sits in the middle of Yeondong, we know nothing about the journey.
  • No one records queuing, and no one records walking straight in. None of the eight posts we counted says anything about waiting times or booking ahead. When to turn up for a table is not a question we can answer.
  • We barely know what it costs. Exactly one post out of thirty gives any price: ₩56,000 for the flower short rib and ₩25,000 for the beef tartare, in September 2026 — with no indication of how many people that feeds. For the pork by weight, the mixed platter, the stews, the rice and the beer, nobody wrote a number down. It is a grill house, and we cannot tell you what a meal here comes to.
  • The only number we have is a 0507 relay number, which is what every post prints. Relay numbers stop working if the shop drops the service, so this one may go dead. We do not have a direct line to the restaurant.
