Raw fishKorean

Ssangdungi Hoetjip Bonjeom

쌍둥이횟집 본점 Ssangdungi means twins and hoetjip a raw-fish house; the sign shows two red fish facing each other.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A big raw-fish house filling its own building on a lane near Seogwipo's Maeil Olle Market and Lee Jung-seop Street. You come for the course rather than a plate of sashimi: abalone porridge, a seafood board, griddled abalone, sushi, fried sweet potato and pork cutlet, then the main sashimi (grouper, red sea bream, mackerel, cutlassfish in most posts), abalone-innard fried rice, spicy or clear fish stew with hand-torn dough, and red-bean shaved ice to finish. Courses run from 70,000 won for two to 200,000 won for the top tier for four; from 11:00 to 15:00 a 12,000-won lunch of stew or raw-fish rice bowl is served. We read 30 posts dated 23 March to 23 October 2026; 24 record an actual meal, and 6 of those disclosed sponsorship or advertising.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The table overflows, but the sashimi itself is modest. Six posts said the portions were large, and a regular wrote that the basic course is plenty. That abundance is in the side dishes, though: one post said it was not much food, noting the cutlassfish and mackerel came one piece each on a 160,000-won course. Even among the generous verdicts, one added that there are only a few slices of fish, and another said the main sashimi may feel small.
  2. At dinner you take a number. Six posts waited or saw a queue. One arrived at 18:07 on a weekday, got ticket no. 1 and sat at 18:13; another found a 'full house, take a number' sign at the counter at 18:40 but walked straight in. A party that arrived before 18:00 had no wait but saw a long line on the way out. One post says 15:00-16:00 is quiet.
  3. Two posts say there are private rooms upstairs; one suggests booking one ahead for a family or group meal.
  4. Four posts call the lot large.
3 more
  1. Most posts call it good value: eleven said so, one marvelling that two can eat here for 70,000 won when most places charge over 100,000. One post, paid out of pocket, called it expensive, saying 160,000 won would buy a fuller meal elsewhere. Sponsored posts are among the good-value verdicts.
  2. Three posts brought children. A six-year-old ate grilled fish, corn and live octopus; in another, staff kept checking on a boy who got through three bowls of noodles and two pork cutlets. A high chair is mentioned too.
  3. Many writers are returning customers: eight posts are repeat visits, from a local who has come for seven or eight years to people back after a decade.

Driving is fine: eight posts found parking easy. Some place the lot directly across the street and others right in front, so check on arrival. No one gave a capacity.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 24 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 6 (of 24 posts read)

There is seating on both floors. Six posts mention the second floor; the ground floor fills first and the upper floor takes groups. One wrote that the inner window seats upstairs look out on the Seogwipo sea.

No post mentions a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift to the second floor. That is an absence of reports, not of features.

No one described the toilets from experience; 'indoor toilet' appears only in one copied info block, which we did not count.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on the free sushi refill. One local regular, writing in October 2026, said it has been discontinued; other posts from the same period, including a 16 September visit, took refills with the course. That regular eats the lunch set, so the refill may survive only with courses; we cannot tell.
  • One post described all the fish as aged sashimi it couldn't eat; the others call it live-fish sashimi.
  • Eighteen posts gave opening hours: seventeen say 11:00 to 22:00 and one says from 11:30. Ten give last orders at 20:30. Some say it never closes, but one party arrived at Chuseok to find a holiday-closure notice on the door, so check around national holidays. A couple who sat down at 19:00 felt watched by staff by 21:30, so go early if you want to linger. A mid-afternoon break appears only in a promotional post that didn't visit; we did not count it.
  • A sponsored batch runs through these posts. Several from May to October 2026 disclose funding from a Jeju tourism promotion association, and one undisclosed post follows exactly the same photo-studio, raw-fish and hangover-soup itinerary. Another post is marked as an ad. Weigh the praise with that in mind.
  • We don't know the bus route. One post said public transport is convenient, but no one named a bus or stop. Posts say it is about a five-minute walk from Olle Market, and some walked from nearby hotels.
  • Three posts say you can book, and one did. Nobody said whether bookings are by phone only or from what time. The number most posts give is 064-762-0478.
