Seogwipo Gogi-guksu

서귀포고기국수 Gogi-guksu is Jeju's pork noodle soup, so the name simply means 'Seogwipo pork noodles'; several posts note the shop used to be called Jaguri-guksu, after Jaguri Park across the road.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A pork-noodle shop on Soam-ro 12beon-gil in Seogwipo, across the road from Jaguri Park. It sells pork noodle soup for 10,000 won, abalone porridge for 14,000, abalone mixed noodles for 14,000 and potato dumplings for 9,000; most posts give the hours as 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Thursdays. You order on a tablet at the table and help yourself to kimchi from a self-serve bar in the middle of the room. We read 27 posts dated 27 August to 21 October 2026; 26 describe an actual visit. All 26 had the pork noodles, and 20 also ordered the abalone porridge.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Eleven posts say they went back to the bar for more kimchi. There are two kinds, napa cabbage and young radish; one writer refilled twice before the food even arrived, another says a husband who never eats restaurant kimchi went back twice. The young radish kimchi gets singled out most.
  2. Ten posts describe ordering and paying by card on a tablet at the table. One notes the menu also comes in English and Chinese.
  3. Seven posts mention foreign diners — a Dutch couple, Chinese tourists at the next table — and one says the owner speaks simple English with them.
  4. Seven posts say the pork had no off smell. The broth is described both ways: many call it a clear anchovy-style stock, while others describe a milky bone broth. Three posts found the pork thick-cut; one thought the pieces were small.
2 more
  1. Six posts say portions are large — a big bowl, generous noodles, an abalone noodle dish described as absurdly big. Four posts call the prices low; none call them high.
  2. Several posts were family visits, five of them with children. Several shared the abalone porridge with a child, and two mention high chairs.

Parking

13 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park13 of 26 posts

Thirteen posts say parking was easy — on the street out front or in the Jaguri public lot opposite. One says the frontage takes only one or two cars; in early September one writer found the lot under construction and another found the lane closed for works. The lot's fee is given both as 1,000 won for the first 30 minutes and as free for the first 30 minutes; both are copied information.

Getting inside

Step at the entrance1 of 26 posts
Toilet inside2 of 26 posts

Only one post mentions the floor: the restaurant occupies the ground floor of a house.

No post mentions getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — not that it is impossible, just that nobody wrote about it. One post says you climb a few steps at the entrance.

Two posts say the toilet is indoors at the back; nobody says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Four posts found the owners friendly; one, written by an invited reviewer, found the owner a little unfriendly.
  • Many posts look templated: most repeat the same two search phrases ('Seogwipo abalone porridge spot', 'Seogwipo breakfast') and walk through the kimchi bar and the review-for-orange-juice event in the same order. One discloses sponsorship, one says it was an invited review, the rest say nothing; two share whole sentences. Two posts called it just an ordinary bowl of noodles.
  • Six posts say they took part in the receipt-review event that earns a bottle of orange juice; worth keeping in mind when weighing the praise.
  • Nobody describes getting there by bus. Four posts drove; one walked from a nearby hotel but gives no distance or stop.
  • Waiting barely comes up. One post saw a queue form by the end of an early lunch; another walked straight in. One found the room nearly full at 10:30 a.m. Food took about 20 minutes on a day with a large group in one post, and came quickly in another.
  • Most posts give the hours as 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., last order 3:30, closed Thursdays, but three say it opens at 9 on Sundays, and one of those says Saturdays too. All of this is copied information, so check before going.
  • Prices are as of September–October 2026. Several posts give 10,000 won for the pork noodles, but one September post wrote 11,000 for the small size. A party of three paid about 13,000 won each for noodles, dumplings and drinks.
  • Many posts give the same phone number, 064-762-6168, but none say whether the shop takes reservations.
  • Four posts say the shop used to be called Jaguri-guksu; nobody says when it changed, and every post we read uses the current name.
