Dixie's

딕시스 Diksiseu Dixie is an old nickname for the American South — the house serves Southern soul food such as Nashville hot chicken and mac and cheese.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Dixie's is an American Southern restaurant on the ground floor of an alley off Gwandeok-ro 8-gil in Jeju City, about five minutes' walk from Dongmun Market and Gwandeokjeong, serving Nashville hot chicken, chicken burgers, rice bowls and mac and cheese. It opened in July 2026 (one post says it went on opening day), and nearly every post mentions the blues and country soundtrack and the wood interior. You order on your own phone by tapping a tag or scanning a QR code on the table, and fetch water, cutlery and bottled beer yourself. The most-ordered dish is the braised pork rice bowl (15,900 won, ten posts); burgers start at 11,900 won and chicken baskets were 26,900–28,900 won. We read 30 posts dated July 11 to October 23, 2026; 29 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order from your own phone, not from staff. Fourteen posts say tapping the table tag or scanning its QR code opens the menu and lets you order on the spot, one noting no app install was needed. After ordering you take bottled beer and soft drinks from the fridge yourself, and cutlery, wet wipes and plastic gloves from a self-serve station by the door.
  2. Heat is your choice. Nineteen posts call the food spicy and two were undecided. Levels run from NO SPICE to EXTRA HOT, and four posts compare a level to Shin Ramyun. One post found the default level barely spicy enough for a child, while another found even the mildest level a little hot. One pair ordered the same burger at two levels and the friend's Buldak-sauce level was described as genuinely hot.
  3. For a menu of cheese and fried food, eight posts say it did not feel greasy or heavy — mostly because the spicy chicken on top of the mac and cheese cuts through it. One post warned the burger could be a little rich.
  4. Eleven posts describe the seating: a bar with high stools plus tables for two and four, counted as seven tables in one post and about six in another. One post called the room spacious; two said it is not large.

  1. Six posts found the portions large. One pair ordered two burgers and a rice bowl and one of them managed only half a burger, planning to share one burger and one bowl next time.

Parking

11 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park11 of 29 posts

There is no private lot; people park in the Jungang-ro shopping street public car park across the road. Eleven posts parked there or said parking was easy. Weekends are described as free; whether weekday parking turns free at 6 pm or 8 pm splits three posts to three. Fee details like 'first 30 minutes free, 500 won per 15 minutes' were copied from listings.

Getting inside

Toilet inside4 of 29 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 29 posts

No post describes the floor from experience; they only repeat '1F' from the address. Nobody mentions stairs up or down.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller got in. One mentions a large stone 'next to the steps' by the wooden door, without saying how many steps. Unknown, not absent.

The restroom is inside the restaurant, according to four posts; one adds that it is at the very back, with one stall each for men and women.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post reports waiting. Three got in straight away: first in the door at the 11:30 Saturday opening, early on a weekday lunch, and at 7 pm on a weekday. One August post arrived at 11:30 and saw every table full by noon. That is not proof there is never a line — just that nobody wrote from a peak-hour visit.
  • Opening hours are mostly copied from listings. Eleven posts up to September 22, 2026 give Tuesday as the day off (the Sep 22 post read it on the door sign); five posts from October 4 give Wednesday. The afternoon break is 15:00–16:30 in sixteen posts and 15:00–17:00 in five. Only one post (Oct 22) lists Friday–Sunday hours of 12:00–23:00.
  • Prices are mostly consistent, with a few splits: the Cajun shrimp bowl was 17,900 won on the August menu and 16,900 won in September–October posts, and the Nashville hot chicken basket appears at both 28,900 and 29,900 won (the latter with a biscuit). For a whole meal, one pair paid 31,800 won for a burger set and a bowl, another 40,300 won for two bowls and a Coke. One post called it on the pricey side.
  • The no-kids rule is copied from the listing and house rules; one August post says it applies to under-13s from 6 pm. In October one family took a five-year-old and a baby at lunch (written up twice by the same blogger). No post went with children in the evening.
  • Freebies differ: the July 11 post got cornbread with maple syrup while waiting, while the October 22 post says nothing came on the house. With only two posts we cannot say when that changed.
  • Some posts say burgers are lunch-only (four posts) and chicken is dinner-only (two). One post tried and failed to order a burger at dinner; the rest repeat the menu or what they were told, so we could not confirm the time rules.
  • Many posts copy the phone number 0507-1429-3334, but none says they actually booked by phone; 'reservations available' appears only in copied listings.
  • Of the 29 visit posts, one discloses sponsorship, one shows a receipt to prove the author paid, and 27 say nothing either way. Several share the same title pattern and the same info-block-then-recommendations layout, so commissioned posts may be mixed in; we could not single them out.
