Sukseong Donga

숙성돈가 Sukseong means 'aged' and donga reads as 'pork house' — the house water-ages its Jeju black pork before it is grilled.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

Sukseong Donga is a Jeju black-pork grill occupying a whole two-storey building at 312 Jungmungwangwang-ro, at the edge of the Jungmun resort area. The pork, said to be water-aged, arrives seared and staff finish it over charcoal at your table, with bean sprouts, bracken, kimchi and egg custard cooking around the rim. Posts consistently list 54,000 won for 500 g of black pork for two, 61,000 won for the abalone set and 46,000 won for regular pork; rice is 1,000 won. We read 30 posts dated 14 April to 22 October 2026: 27 describe a visit, 2 only list the restaurant, and 1 was about another place. One writer says it used to sit on Jungmun-ro 81beon-gil and moved here to a larger space.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Twenty-three posts say so, and sixteen note the meat arrives pre-seared so it cooks quickly — a point families with children stressed most. One post says staff only grill the first round, unlike the others who say they stay to the end, and one writer felt the meat was slightly overcooked that day.
  2. Side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar: eighteen posts mention it, naming lettuce, bracken, white kimchi, meat patties and pink sausage — one writer went back for white kimchi three times. Several posts say soft drinks are free all day and you can fry your own eggs until 3 pm; one writer arrived at 4 and missed the eggs.
  3. Many tables sit by open windows: nine posts describe window or folding-door seats, one grilling 'with the windows open, looking at the Seogwipo sea'. Eighteen posts call the room spacious and fifteen found parking out front easy.
  4. Eleven posts call the portions large; one couple was too full for the noodles after 500 g for two, and three posts say the 1,000-won rice comes in a big bowl.

  1. Six posts say there was no wait, all of them visiting at lunch, mid-afternoon or opening time; one noticed tables filling as noon approached. Nobody wrote about waiting in the evening.

One post mentions eating on the ground floor; nobody described the second floor or how to get up there. We don't know, which isn't the same as saying there's nothing to know.

Two posts describe the entrance: one says there is a separate stroller- and wheelchair-friendly path beside the steps, the other entered with a stroller. The 'wheelchair accessible entrance' line copied from listings is not counted.

Only one post mentions the toilet (mouthwash was provided); whether it is inside and gender-separated appears only in copied listing text, so we don't know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No one arrived by bus or on foot; everyone drove or didn't say. We don't know how easy it is by public transport.
  • Copied opening hours disagree. Seven posts from 8 July to 20 September 2026 say it opens at 10:30; two June posts and nine from 25 September on say 10:00. Most say it closes at 23:00, one 23:30, and one from 22 October says 22:00. Two October posts give Monday as a closing day while two others say it never closes. The only first-hand time is a writer who walked in at an 11:00 opening. Call ahead (064-739-5488).
  • Only one post (June 2026) mentions the move, and its photos of the old site date from 2022, so we didn't count its prices or parking as current. All other posts we read are about the present address.
  • No one called it expensive; one writer found 54,000 won better value than the 68,000 won for 550 g they paid elsewhere the day before. Lunch-special prices (10,000-won hotpot, 15,000-won set) and the stew and noodle prices each come from a single post.
  • Some posts copy that Naver booking is available, and one says booking that way gets a free kimchi stew; nobody wrote about actually booking.
  • Most posts from September–October 2026 follow the same outline — 360-hour aging, consumer-award plaques, free soda refills, free fried eggs before 3 pm, staff grilling — with the same hashtags. Three disclose sponsorship or a free meal, three say they paid themselves, and the rest say nothing. The aging time, pork certification and awards are the restaurant's own claims and we did not treat them as evidence.
