KOGIJANG

고기장 중문 Gogijang Jungmun Gogi means meat and jang means sauce or paste; posts note the fifteen sauces and side dishes served with the Jeju black pork, and Jungmun is the neighborhood.

Gogijang Jungmun is a Jeju black pork grill house in a two-storey building at 741 Iljuseo-ro, Jungmun, Seogwipo. Staff grill the meat at your table, and you eat it with what the house calls fifteen side dishes and sauces. The most-ordered item is the 500 g mixed board of neck, belly, jowl and shoulder-end cut, the Gogijang Jinjeongseong, listed at 62,000 won in posts from March to September 2026. On the side, people ordered lard fried rice, kimchi stew, soybean-paste stew and steamed egg. Thirteen posts singled out the house sauce kept warm in a little pot on the grill. Several posts mention that the original branch is near Jeju airport. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026, and 29 of them describe a visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Of the 29 visits, 21 posts said staff grilled their meat. Several describe the routine: the first piece is dipped in salt and set on your plate, then the house sauce and anchovy sauce go on the grill, and the server explains which sauce goes with which cut. Four posts asked to swap a piece that was too fatty and got a leaner one. One writer said the best part was being able to talk while someone else cooked.
  2. For a black pork house, it has its own wine room. Nine posts said wine is sold, and several also saw sake, whisky, champagne and highballs. One post passed on a corkage fee of 10,000 won per bottle of wine and 20,000 won for whisky, champagne or sake; that figure came from the shop, and we have not checked it.
  3. Expect a wait. Five posts said they waited: 15 to 20 minutes on a weekday evening, about ten groups ahead at dinner, second in line, about five minutes early on a weekday, and full on arrival with many people waiting behind. One post got in straight away by going late. Three posts booked ahead or joined the remote queue through Catchtable.
  4. It is not a quiet place; three posts said so. One described lots of group tables and lively staff, and another said it would not suit people who want a calm meal.

  1. Side dishes and sauces are refilled from a self-serve bar. Three posts used it, and they found the lettuce wraps there too. One post said the rapeseed greens had to be requested from staff.

Parking

Posts saying you can park6 of 27 posts

There is parking in front of and behind the restaurant. Six posts parked there themselves. One found the front lot full and used the rear one; another found no space and parked on the road outside.

Getting inside

Second floor2 of 27 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read)

It is a two-storey building with a large dining room; seven posts called it spacious. One post was seated upstairs, one described the building as two storeys, and two thought there was an upper floor but saw only the ground floor in use. One post heard the upper floor is mainly for groups; that is hearsay, so we did not count it.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That does not mean there is a problem, only that nobody wrote about it. Two posts mention eating on the ground floor.

No post says whether the toilet is inside or whether it is split by gender. Nobody wrote about it.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • All the opening hours were copied from info blocks. Eleven posts give 12:00 to 22:00 daily. The break is 15:00 to 16:30 in eight posts and 14:40 to 16:30 in one, and two posts say Sundays break from 14:40 to 17:00. Five posts give a last entry of 21:10. Check before going.
  • One post called it expensive, and one wondered whether it was pricey before deciding the meat quality and clean room justified it. No post gave a total bill for a meal. Several couples added a portion after the 500 g board, so for two people expect to pay more than the board alone.
  • Six posts copied the phone number 0507-1423-1257. Several say bookings go through Naver and Catchtable, and one post quoted the house rule that a booking is cancelled automatically after five minutes' delay and cannot be adjusted by phone.
  • No post describes coming by bus. Most drove; one went by taxi, struggled to find one for the trip back, and advised driving even from nearby lodgings.
  • High chairs appear only in copied info blocks. Three posts came with children, but none said they used a high chair.
