Soup and riceKorean

Haejang Sallong

해장살롱 Haejang is the Korean word for easing a hangover with hot soup; salon is the borrowed French word — a hangover-soup house dressed up as a salon, serving its soups in Le Creuset pots.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A hangover-soup house between Hamdeok Beach and Seoubong on Jeju's northeast coast (619 Johamhaean-ro, Jocheon). It opens at 8 a.m. and serves brisket soup and tripe soup (13,000 won) and abalone–sea urchin seaweed soup and boneless hairtail stew (15,000 won) in one-person Le Creuset pots with rice. Pairs mostly ordered the two-soup-plus-one-side set (39,000 won); groups took the full spread with all four sides (59,000 won for two up to 84,000 for four). We read 30 posts dated 23 September to 26 October 2026; 5 were about the Jungmun branch and set aside. All 25 remaining posts describe actual visits to the Hamdeok shop, and 7 of them are sponsored multi-stop itinerary lists.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Thirteen posts mention the floor-to-ceiling windows — palm trees, Hallasan and a distant view of the Hamdeok sea — and one writer had to pull a blind against the sun. Ten call the place large, with two separate halls big enough for groups; one felt the tables were still lined up a bit close together.
  2. Eight posts mention high chairs (one identified a Stokke), and five writers came with children. They mention separate toddler plates and spoons, and feeding boneless hairtail and the sea-urchin seaweed soup to babies. Several also note disposable aprons and sanitising wipes kept in a drawer at each table.
  3. Twelve posts say the portions are large — one said the meat in the soup never seemed to run out, and a party of three left some of their three-person set. One writer found the bowl of rice small and ordered another.
  4. Reports on the heat of the red brisket and tripe soups split. Three writers found them hot — hotter than Shin Ramyun, much spicier than expected — while two called them only mildly spicy and fine for people who don't handle heat. The clear brisket soup, beef-radish soup and seaweed soup were recommended as the non-spicy options.

  1. You order yourself: four posts used a tablet at the table to order and pay, one mentions a kiosk. One writer noted the tablet's staff-call menu has preset buttons for more white kimchi or hot water.

Parking

17 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park17 of 24 posts

Seventeen of the 25 posts say from experience that parking is easy; one said the lot could take a tour bus, and three mention arriving by rental or own car. One adds that a public lot next door takes the overflow. The figures of 30 and 50 spaces in two lots are copied from the shop's listing, so we didn't count them.

Getting inside

Toilet inside3 of 24 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 24 posts

No one described which floor the dining room is on or whether there are steps at the entrance — only the '1st floor' in the address. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there's nothing to say. One writer found stairs up to the roof and went up for the view.

No one described the entrance step or going in with a wheelchair or pushchair. 'Wheelchair accessible' is copied from the listing, and one writer passed on being told a wheelchair is kept at the entrance. Two mention a sticker welcoming guide dogs.

Two posts describe a waiting area just inside the front door with the toilets opposite it; with one more saying the toilet is inside the shop, that makes three. Two say the toilets are separate for men and women. Three mention seats in the waiting area.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one recorded a waiting time. One writer avoided the lunch hour and walked straight in; others found it full at 11:30 and nearly full at lunchtime. Whether there's a queue at lunch we can't say.
  • No one came by bus or on foot — every writer who mentions transport drove — so we can't say how it works by public transport. One puts it about three minutes' drive from Hamdeok Beach; others walked down to the beach after eating.
  • Opening hours appear in 19 of the 25 posts; 16 give 8:00–20:30 daily with a break from 15:30 to 16:30. Only two sponsored posts by the same writer say it closes at 20:00 with a break from 15:00 and last orders at 19:30 — which another writer recorded as the hours around opening. Most give last orders at 15:00 and 20:00, and four say there's no closing day. Nearly all of this is copied from the listing.
  • Prices are as written in October 2026 posts. The clear brisket soup is listed at 12,000 won in one and 13,000 in another. No one gave the Hamdeok à la carte prices for the pork pancake, boneless hairtail or abalone. Three posts said it wasn't expensive and none said it was. Three got a free mini pork pancake for posting a review; one wasn't sure the offer was still on.
  • Thirteen posts give the number 0507-1433-0073, but no one booked by phone. Three say reservations go through Naver, and one says booking ahead earns a coupon for a mini pork pancake.
  • Seven of the 25 posts are itinerary pieces funded by the 'Beautiful Jeju' association, visiting the same six places in the same order — five disclose the sponsorship, two don't. Their sections on this shop are short, so we counted little from them beyond dishes, windows and portions. Four writers say they paid their own way.
  • There's no move or change of owner. The one change is the hours: a writer who visited around opening recorded 8:00–20:00 with last orders at 19:30, while nearly all posts from late September 2026 give a 20:30 close. The news of a Yeouido branch in Seoul opening in early November is about a new branch, not a move.
