THE FLYING HOG

더 플라잉 호그 Deo Peullaing Hogeu The Flying Hog is a pig with wings; staff told diners the flying part stands for duck and the hog for pork, the kitchen's two main meats.

The Flying Hog is a dinner-only wood-fire grill restaurant on the 7th floor of JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa in Seogwipo. Its closing main is the namesake Jeju black-pork belly roasted over wood fire; the seven-course menu is 150,000 won per person and the four-course 100,000 won. We read 30 posts from July 2025 to September 2026; 24 describe a visit — 20 dinners, 3 stops at the daytime café that used the same room, and 1 wine-tasting and cocktail class. Until April 2026 the room ran as the bakery café Dancing Durumi by day; posts from June onward put Dancing Durumi on the 6th floor by the banquet hall.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The seven-course price has held at 150,000 won, from a January 2024 visit through September 2026; switching the main to hanwoo 1++ adds 15,000 won. Of 7 posts that judged the price, 6 found it reasonable for what arrives and 1 called it a stretch.
  2. 3 posts used the Marriott Bonvoy member discount (10% for Gold, 15% for Platinum); one couple paid 255,000 won for two after the 15% cut.
  3. 7 posts said the portions were large. Duck or beef and then pork arrive in sequence, and several diners gave up halfway through the pork — unusual for a tasting menu, and posts remarked on it.
  4. 12 posts said the staff were kind. Several mention a hand-drawn pig card, a Polaroid and a small cake for birthdays or anniversaries; one noted the cake was charged extra.
4 more
  1. Couples wrote most of the posts (9), mostly for birthdays or anniversaries. 4 posts came with children, ordered the kids' menu (meatball pasta or a pork cutlet), and one used a high chair. 1 diner went alone.
  2. 12 posts drank wine. A wall of wine cellar at the entrance comes up repeatedly, and one post lists pairings at 140,000 and 200,000 won. One diner brought his own bottle; the 70,000-won corkage figure appears only in copied listing text.
  3. 7 posts mention a window seat or the sea, sunset or fireworks outside.
  4. 11 posts booked ahead, by phone, CatchTable or TableCheck; one was told a CatchTable slot was not a confirmed booking and called instead. Several advise mentioning an anniversary when booking.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 7 (of 24 posts read)
Lift to the floor4 of 24 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)

7 posts place the restaurant on the 7th floor; the hotel lobby is on 8 and you go one floor down, while the car park is on 3. One post from a January 2024 visit says 8th floor. The registered address's "3rd floor" does not match.

4 posts arrived by lift; step out and a gold pig sculpture and the smell of wood smoke greet you.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Posts say the entrance is right off the lift, which does not tell us it is step-free.

Only one post located the toilets: along the corridor outside the restaurant. Others mention crock-shaped basins and Bulgari hand wash; separate men's and women's rooms appear only in copied listing text.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • 5 posts from September 2025 to April 2026 say the room was a café (Dancing Durumi) by day. Posts from June and August 2026 put Dancing Durumi on the 6th floor, so we cannot say whether this room still sells coffee by day.
  • Public transport is split: 1 post came by airport bus and taxi, 1 recommended a taxi or rental car instead. Nobody said how far the nearest stop is.
  • No post mentions waiting — nearly everyone had booked. Nobody said whether walk-ins get a table.
  • 10 posts give the same hours, 18:00-22:00, and 3 give a 20:00 last order for the course, several of them copied from listings. No post mentions a closing day.
  • The phone number given, 064-803-7777, is the hotel's main line; one post booked by phone.
  • The menu changes with the seasons — squid and sea urchin in summer 2025, yellowtail and abalone in winter, flounder and top shell in spring 2026. Autumn 2025 posts list a seven-course menu plus two- to three-person sets; from February 2026 it is four or seven courses. Posts spell the chef's name differently, so we leave it out.
