Raw fishKorean

Sahyeongje Hoetjip

사형제횟집 Sahyeongje means 'four brothers', and hoetjip is a raw-fish restaurant.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

A raw-fish house at Hallimsang-ro 273 in Hallim, a few minutes' drive from Hyeopjae and Geumneung beaches. Mackerel sashimi is the centre: the two-person mackerel course is 80,000 won and the Sahyeongje Special for three to four is 150,000 won. Dozens of side dishes fill the table first, then the mackerel with roe rice, conch jeotgal and laver, then fried dishes and spicy fish stew. We read 30 posts from 5 August 2025 to 7 October 2026; 27 describe a visit, and 16 of those say they were paid to write (December 2025 to April 2026).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Twenty of the 27 visit posts say it is a lot of food. One says the side dishes come out until the table nearly buckles; a couple say the two-person course could feed three; a family on the 200,000-won course found it too much. Counts of side dishes run from over 30 to about 40. Quantity is not the same as quality: one self-paid post found that few of them were actually good.
  2. Eleven posts say the fish did not smell fishy, including one from someone who calls herself sensitive to it. Several mention the method written on the wall: perilla leaf, laver, roe rice, mackerel dipped in soy, then conch jeotgal or radish. One post says the owner checks how much of the side dishes you have eaten before bringing out the mackerel.
  3. Fourteen posts mention the celebrity signatures on the wall, mostly on round plates; one spotted the cast of the drama Our Blues. Nine of the fourteen are sponsored posts.
  4. Eleven posts went with friends, three with family and two as a couple. Nine of the eleven friend visits are sponsored. One post is a 15-person family booked through a travel agency; another family brought a five-year-old who tried live octopus.

  1. On value, four posts call it good for the money (two sponsored, two not). One self-paid post questioned paying this much for the side dishes, then decided it still beats other mackerel places in Jeju and said it would return.

Parking

12 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park12 of 27 posts

Twelve posts say they parked beside or in front of the restaurant, and 17 say they came by car. All five that say the lot holds ten or more cars are sponsored posts from the same template; three others only copied 'parking available' from an info block, and we did not count those.

Getting inside

Second floor11 of 27 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 11 (of 27 posts read)

Eleven posts say the restaurant uses both floors, five mention floor-seating rooms on the ground floor and five mention private rooms, all from sponsored posts. Unsponsored posts only say it is spacious.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there is a lift to the second floor. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it is absent.

No post mentions the toilets, inside or out, shared or separate. We do not know.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Sixteen of the 27 visit posts open with a paid-content notice and share the same info block and sentence patterns (December 2025 to April 2026); two are nearly word-for-word identical. We counted each post, but those counts carry less weight than the number suggests.
  • The claim of 'over 20 years in the same spot' appears only in three sponsored posts, and the owner's claim to have pioneered mackerel sashimi in Jeju is hearsay; we rely on neither. Across the 15 months we read, no post reports a move, a price change or a menu change.
  • Posts disagree on whether the mackerel is served live-fresh or aged: one says it tastes fresh rather than aged like in Seoul, another lists it as aged mackerel with a texture that may divide people.
  • No post arrived by bus or other public transport; those that say how they came drove (17 posts) or took a taxi. We do not know how easy it is by bus.
  • No post reports waiting. One arrived around 6 pm, found it so quiet they doubted it was popular, and saw it fill up later. We do not know about waits at busy times.
  • Twenty visit posts give opening hours of 11:00 to 22:00, nineteen of them closed on Tuesdays, and one adds a last order at 21:00. All of these are copied info blocks rather than times anyone checked.
  • Seventeen posts list the phone number 064-796-8709 and two list 0507-1311-8709. No post says whether you can or need to book; the 15-person family only says their travel agency made the reservation.
