Daewonga
대원가 No post explains the name; Daewonga reads as 'the Daewon house', and what Daewon stands for is not stated.

A seafood-stew house in Donam-dong, Jeju City, 10 to 15 minutes by car from the airport. The dish is a hot pot heaped with live abalone, boiled at the table, and a grilled hairtail comes as a free side. Three posts from January to March 2026 paid 58,000 won for the small; two from September and October 2026 paid 95,000 for the large. We read 27 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 20 of them record an actual meal there.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Once the pot boils, staff do the prep at your table. Nine posts said so: shelling the abalone, cutting the octopus, pen shell and live octopus into bites; one was told to eat the small octopus quickly before it toughened. One post said the owner deboned the grilled hairtail at the table.
- Twelve posts said the portions are large. One couple found a small more than enough for two; another was told by staff to order a size down and still had leftovers.
- The broth is mostly mild. Three posts described it as doenjang-based and not spicy; one asked the owner for chili and chili flakes to sharpen it. One post called it spicy. Four said it was not salty, even bland.
- Six posts said the dining room is large, often adding that it suits groups. One February 2026 visit found it nearly full with a local seniors' gathering and a foreign tour bus group. Another that month was told the heating isn't turned on.

Parking reports differ: one post parked on the roadside in front, one described a lot behind the restaurant, and one said space is tight and pointed to a nearby public lot.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
No post described which floor the restaurant is on from experience; the address says unit 101, but we don't know.
No post mentioned a step at the entrance or wheelchair access. One visitor phoned ahead to bring a dog in a stroller and was allowed, but didn't say whether there was a step.
No post mentioned the restroom's location or whether it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2025-06-25 | 2 posts in one day |

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The walls are covered in signatures. Four posts called them celebrity autographs; one said they were just traces left by ordinary visitors, another noticed hiking-club signatures among them. The TV-appearance list is what the house posted, copied by bloggers.
- Prices have gone up: a December 2024 post listed the large stew at 85,000 won (medium 70,000); two posts from September and October 2026 paid 95,000. 2026 posts list a small at 58,000 won, and we cannot tell whether it matches the old medium.
- No post recorded a wait time. One early-evening visit just after the break found it quiet; another said many tables were reserved and they barely got a seat. That is not proof there is no queue, only that nobody timed one.
- Nobody wrote about getting there by bus or on foot; posts only give the 10–15 minute drive from the airport.
- Who people came with is scattered: two with family, one couple, one large group, plus three who came with a spouse.
- Fourteen posts give the same hours — 9am to 9pm, break 3 to 4:30pm, closed Wednesdays — but mostly copied from listings. First-hand, one visitor ate around 10am and another came in just after the break.
- The phone number, 064-753-3030, is the same across more than ten posts. Only one post spoke from experience about booking — many tables were reserved, so book ahead; the other 'reservations available' lines are copied.
- Three posts published on the same day, 25 June 2025, share wording and the homepage link and look like commissioned copy; along with four introduction-only posts we did not count them, except one that records a meal. The owner's 30 years as a haenyeo diver, the safe-restaurant certificate and TV appearances are repeated claims we did not use as evidence.
