Raw fishKorean

Tumang

투망 Tumang is a cast net, the round fishing net thrown by hand from shore or boat.

Compiled from 4 blog posts read in fullSources →

A raw-fish house on the Dodu harbour front in Jeju City, at the far end of Iho Teu beach. Order the assorted sashimi and a run of sides arrives first (raw hairtail, mackerel, sea squirt), then fried hairtail and sweet potato, and finally abalone-innard fried rice with spicy fish stew. Takeout is also an option. The only price anyone wrote down is 120,000 won for a full sashimi spread. We read 7 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 2 turned out to be about fishing nets (the word tumang) and were set aside, and all 5 remaining posts describe a visit.

What sets it apart

  1. Three posts single out the staff. One says side dishes and lettuce were topped up without asking, and the owner handed the children a rice cake each on the way out. Another visited on a night when both floors were packed with group dinners and still found the server lively and attentive.
  2. Two posts say the slices are thick. One liked the heft of the flatfish; the other found many pieces too thick and said it would ask for thinner cuts next time.

Parking is unclear. The one post that actually parked says there was plenty of space in front; another post's copied info block says there is no lot. We counted only the first.

Getting inside

Second floor2 of 4 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 4 posts read)

Diners eat upstairs. Two posts were seated on the first floor up, and one explains the fish is cut at street level while guests are sent upstairs first. Both mention watching the sunset over the sea from the window.

No post mentions steps at the door, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift. Since guests are seated upstairs there may be stairs, but nobody wrote about it.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post describes getting there by bus. Several call it close to Jeju airport, but none say how they travelled.
  • No post mentions waiting for a table. One describes both floors full of group dinners but says nothing about a queue; 'reservations accepted' appears only in a copied info block.
  • Who people came with does not add up to a pattern: one post came with children, one with a work-event group.
  • Opening hours are unconfirmed. One post's copied block says 11am to 9pm daily; two others wrote that no hours were listed. One advises calling ahead.
  • We know very little about prices. Two posts call it good value, but the only figures are 120,000 won for a full spread (January 2025) and a takeout total remembered as somewhere in the 20,000s or 30,000s. Nobody gave the price of the assorted platter.
  • Two posts give the phone number as 064-711-7815; one gives 064-712-7815. Reservations are mentioned only in a copied info block.
