Deungdaewa Badang

등대와바당 Badang is Jeju dialect for the sea, so the name means 'the lighthouse and the sea' — the upstairs windows look out on the red and white lighthouses at the end of Dodu harbour's breakwater.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

A large seafood restaurant over two floors of a building facing the Dodu harbour ferry pier, about ten minutes' drive from Jeju airport. Most people order a set: the Abang-sang for three to four (₩120,000) or the two-person Dugasi-sang bring raw fish and seafood, then grilled mackerel, tempura and dombe pork, then braised hairtail with seaweed soup and rice. At lunch there is a one-person braised hairtail set (₩20,000) served in its own pot with pot-cooked rice. We read 30 posts dated January 2025 to June 2026; 27 describe actually eating here. Nineteen of the 30 went up within ten days, between 26 May and 4 June 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Families come back to the same points. Eleven posts mention high chairs, eight went with children and ten with family; one says the high chair was already set at their booked table. At lunch there is a self-serve corner where you fry your own eggs.
  2. Soy-marinated crab comes as a side. Nine posts call it not salty; one found it a little salty. It is also sold by the kilo — three posts give ₩20,000 per kg, and one saw the next table buy some to take home.
  3. Seventeen posts call the staff or owner kind, and they point to the same things: explaining each fish and how to wrap the mackerel in laver with onion sauce, and peeling prawns at the table (three posts) — one was told this happens only when it is not too busy.
  4. One post from May 2026 says the floor seating has been replaced: all tables are now chairs and you keep your shoes on.

Getting inside

Second floor22 of 27 posts
Step-free access1 of 27 posts
Toilet inside1 of 27 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 27 posts

Almost everyone eats upstairs: 22 posts say they went up to the second floor, a single open hall with a wall of glass facing the sea, the red and white breakwater lighthouses and moored yachts. Four posts describe the ground floor as private rooms, one noting a room whose door can be closed.

Floors: nobody mentions a basement. The ground floor is unclear — a March 2026 post says only the second floor was open and a May post thought the ground floor was not in use, while four others describe ground-floor private rooms.

Step-free access: one post found it easy to move a stroller around inside, another says you climb stairs after parking. Meals are almost all upstairs, but nobody mentions a lift or the entrance step — that means we do not know, not that there is none.

Toilets: only one January 2025 post says there are separate men's and women's toilets inside; a 2026 post repeats this only in a copied info block.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The nineteen posts from 26 May–4 June 2026 repeat the same phrases in nearly the same order; only two disclose sponsorship. Two minibus-rental ads and one introduction padded with invented reviews were not counted as visits.
  • Opening hours: all 22 posts from 2026 give 10:00–21:30; ten add a 15:00–16:30 break and ten a 20:30 last order — all copied from listing blocks. One post says closed every Tuesday and another says there is no break. Two January 2025 posts gave a 22:00 close and lunch specials until 16:00, so the hours have changed. Three posts say only raw-fish sets are served in the evening.
  • Prices mostly agree: the Abang-sang is ₩120,000 and the lunch hairtail set ₩20,000 wherever a post gives a price. The two-person set is split, ₩85,000 in one post and ₩80,000 in another the same week. The 2025 posts give no prices, so we cannot tell whether anything changed.
  • Nobody came by bus; posts arrived by rental car or on foot while walking the coast, so we do not know how it works by public transport.
  • Nobody reports waiting. One party arrived at 11:30 as the first guests and watched the window tables fill soon after; two found it quiet on a weekday after lunch and a Monday afternoon. Nobody describes a weekend evening.
  • The phone number differs by period: 010-7580-1283 in January 2025, 010-8886-1282 in three posts from February–April 2026, and 0507-1319-1283 in ten posts from May–June 2026. Six posts booked ahead, but none say which number they called.
