Gogyeol
고결 Gogyeol (高潔) means noble and pure — the house says it took the word for the upright life its founder's late father, a Moseulpo fisherman, recorded in his diaries.

Gogyeol serves charcoal-grilled fish over pot rice on the second floor of the building opposite the Songaksan public car park in Daejeong, Seogwipo — the one with a Starbucks downstairs. Mackerel or tilefish comes on a one-person tray, and a card on the counter tells you to eat it in three rounds: mash and mix, then stir in the doenjang sauce, then have broth poured over the last of the rice. Sets run 19,000 won (basic), 23,000 (Daejeong garlic), 25,000 (large mackerel) and 32,000 (tilefish); hairtail sweet-and-sour is 9,000 and potato croquettes 6,000, and a tangerine dessert comes free. It opens at 9:20 a.m. and closes at 3:30 p.m., so there is no dinner. We read 30 posts dated 31 August to 22 October 2026; 28 describe a visit. One only stitches together Instagram posts and shop notices, so we did not count it, and one was about a different café.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect to wait. Of 25 posts that discuss waiting, 16 say they did. The times given: 8 minutes with three groups ahead, about ten minutes on the inner benches, about 20 minutes, 40 minutes for the entry alert plus another 10–20 inside, and two hours on a Sunday. One writer joined the remote queue at 10:30 and was only near the front at 12:30. The CatchTable 'enter now' alert means come in and order, not sit down: you order at a kiosk first, then wait again inside.
- The waiting area is part of the show. Nineteen posts describe waiting on tiered benches behind the counter, looking down over the charcoal grill and out through the windows to the sea. The entrance holds a small exhibit of diaries kept by the owner's father, a Moseulpo fisherman in the 1970s. One diner noted the benches sit right behind people eating, which felt a little awkward.
- Every seat is at a counter facing the kitchen and the sea. Fourteen posts say so, and one points out there are no ordinary four-person tables. Writers warn that groups of three or more may wait longer for adjacent seats, and that it is not a place for four people to sit facing each other and talk.
- You order at a kiosk as soon as you walk in; eleven posts describe it. The main sets can only be chosen then and not added later, while sides and drinks can be ordered from your seat by QR code, according to three posts.
1 more
- Five posts call the doenjang sauce mildly spicy. On saltiness they split one to one: one says it is quite salty and to add it gradually, another calls it not salty at all.

Parking
8 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Of 22 posts that mention parking, eight say they parked free in the Songaksan public car park across the road; the restaurant has no lot of its own. An August post says the large lot is nearly full by late morning even on weekdays, leaving roadside spaces, and another warns of tour buses filling it in school-trip and autumn seasons.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
Getting inside
| Second floor | 7 of 27 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 1 of 27 posts |
The restaurant is upstairs: seven posts describe going up to the second floor, and one notes a souvenir shop and a doughnut shop on the ground floor alongside the Starbucks.
Nobody says whether you reach the second floor by stairs or lift, or whether there is a step at the door. That means we don't know, not that there is none. One writer only guessed that a large pushchair might be awkward with counter-only seating.
One post says the toilet is inside the restaurant and two mention mouthwash left in it. Nobody says whether it is separated by sex or accessible.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post describes arriving by bus or public transport; everyone drove or talked about parking, so we can't say how easy it is without a car.
- Opening hours have changed. A post from 31 August still had the restaurant closed on Tuesdays; a later shop notice says it now opens every day, and four October posts say it has no closing day. Sixteen posts give 9:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and nine give a 2:50 p.m. last order. Five October posts still list 9:30–3:30 with Tuesdays off; that looks copied from opening-period information, so we did not count it. Since September, on-site queue sign-up reportedly opens at 8:30 and remote sign-up at 9:30.
- The policy on children changed. One writer had read it was adults-only, saw high chairs, asked, and was told the rule had changed. Four October posts mention high chairs and three describe eating with children. We don't know when the change happened.
- Prices are the same in every post, from 19,000 won for the basic set to 32,000 for tilefish and 52,000 for the top set on the menu. Opinions on value split: one post says it costs more than a typical grilled-fish meal, two say it is fair or even good value, and one accepts a premium for the view. The garlic set is reportedly limited to 50 a day and the tilefish to 30, so late arrivals may miss them.
- One post says reservations are not taken, and everyone who went queued through CatchTable's waitlist. Eight posts give the phone number 0507-1322-5895.
- Many travel-blog posts from 9 to 22 October order the same four things — the large mackerel or garlic set, the tilefish set, hairtail and croquettes — and describe them in the same order. None discloses sponsorship and five say they paid themselves, so we have not labelled them as sponsored. Two pairs of posts appear to be the same writer describing the same visit twice.
